What is the color of the light output after the 100 hours break in period? Does it still have a purple hue? Also another question. I have an E46 M3, and I heard I might have to remove my headlight to install the new bulbs due to lack of space. If I do this, will I have to re-align my beam pattern again? I had to re-align my headlights after I installed angel eyes, and I don't know if taking apart my headlight made me have to do this.

After 100 hours, it is pure white. It is not even a little blue. Only purple when warming up for 5 seconds. Good luck.

Yes, Philips Ultinon 6k. With the date written on the bulb. Genuine Ultinon. It was VERY blue/purple during the first 50 hours (2 weeks) of burn in. It has whitened nicely. Now it is pure white, and bright as hell.
Mine are still slightly purple but mostly white. Most of the time I drive my 87 Volvo 240 with yellow headlights and stock bulbs. I swear after driving the M3, I have to keep checking if the headlights are on in the Volvo.

Where did you get your bulbs from?
I have more than 100 hours on mine and they're still very purple.
Mine are from www.hids4less.com , I know like 2 other people that have the same kit I have and they're all still very purple.

I got mine from autolamps-online.com. Very purple for first 10 seconds at startup. Whitens nicely. I have not seen a 4300k kit so I do not know what that looks like. Maybe it is purple, I just don't know it. Thanks.

Ofcourse with all kits the color WILL change after warm up. I know what you saying though, it's really purple at the beginning. Let me tell you when how I found out how purple mine were, it was when I let my friend drive my car and I was in a car ahead of him, way ahead of him, and I tell you, my kit is purple is sh*t from far away, maybe closeup to the headlight is not that purple, but in the road its very purple.

My 4500K ones are blue at startup but finish by being very white and VERY bright.
They've had about 100 hours of use already in 6 months.

HID kits are a rip off here in north america, I learned that the hard way. Do a search on the german e-bay www.ebay.de full HID kits go for like $200-300 usd max. Bulbs for less than $50 bucks. Its all in german, but you can translate it through google.com.

I have the 6000K kit from HIDS$LESS and they are pretty much pure white after warm up. Although if you have a E46 M3 with the OEM HIDS then you have different projectors than most the people have. I think a lot of these guys have E36 with rebased DS2 6000k HID bulbs that where modified to fit in a projector housing that was made for H1 halogen bulbs. If you got 6000k's for your E46 M3 you would probably see a little bit blurer/purplish light from your headlights, some of that is from the bulb but most of the blue color comes from the projector housing. If you do get new bulbs make sure they are not rebased for H1 housings. The kit on that german E-BAY is regular DS2 based bulbs so they will not fit in cars that did not have HIDS from the factory.

I have them, and they look bright white when by themselves, but if I'm next to my brother's S4 with stock HID's they definitely have a good purple tint. I like them though, and they are bright as hell. Every car I own from now on will have HID's, they make driving at night so much easier.

How about the 4300k HID kit? How is that after 100 hours of use?

I've had mine for a little over a month and I love them. They are still purple as ever.

JT///M3 - It seems anytime something on my car breaks, I'm the direct cause... and I always break something else while I'm repairing the last injury... lol
///MLife - No, the 6000k bulb is not coated, which is one of the reasons I went with it. And after observing my lights next to a few others last night, the purplish hue is definitely diminishing in mine. If you look at the light, you can still see purple, but from the driver's seat there isn't much left at all excpet pure white.
