:dunno I've got a problem on my trunk and my roof with the paint looking dull and faded. I've used a few kinds before like Meguirs and some others.... but they don't really help much... but I was wondering have any of you guys tried that new wax from Turtle Wax that is colored for your car? If so, how does it work? Any other suggestions.

Try some Zaino or P21S/S100 wax for a nice shine.

Pinnacle Souveran, P21S/S100, ClearKote Moose Wax, Zaino- all good choices for red.

If you've got dull faded paint wax alone won't make them glossy again. Go for a good compound/polish (3m perfect it 2 or swirl mark remover are favorites of mine) and do a few applications of that, then go for some wax, and you'll be good to go.

try zaino... we used it on a friends 86 (year?) e30 325 es with original black paint job and it looks brand new now! Only one coat was used too.

I second the vote for Pinnacle Souveran. I like the paste, as it has higher percentage of carnuba than the liquid.

Before you use the wax, use the Pinnacle Bodywork Cleanser first. That'll get the surface nice and clean. The wax job will look a lot better if you do this first.

Damn guys, he is looking at Color Turtle Wax and you guys are suggesting that he buy $100 Zaino system and $65 Pinnacle! I don't think he's there yet!

If you have Megiuar's system (Tan bottles) you might have what you need in the garage. You will need a polish, maybe a glaze, and a wax.
A polish will have some sort of abrasive to remove the dead and oxidized paint. I like Swirl Remover 2.0, but you might need something more aggressive. You might also want to invest in a Random Orbital buffer. Bad paint is hard to remove by hand, if you are having a hard time, use a power buffer. Once you have gotten the dead paint off you can use a Glaze to fill in the imperfections and then protect the surface with the wax.

If all this sounds expensive or too much work. Hire a detailer to do the grunt work and then manitain your car by waxing every couple months

That's why I suggested S100. Along with SEPC available at your local Harley dealer, you will look like a million bucks under $40.

Perhaps you're right. If you don't want to spend too much try using a clay bar, followed up with the 3 step Meguiar's kit that can be found at Wal-Mart. The whole package may run $25.

I would go with the ps100 as well. Good product at half of the price of the other waxes mentioned.

grrr i just tried that 3m perfect it II fine cut shit, and it doesn't do anything

makes it look shiny but the fads and scratches still exist, even though it says right on the bottle removes fading and small scratches and stuff

i am using a cloth by hand, do u gotta buff it for it to work???

its a pos, i am dissappointed in 3M

plus it got my cloth all RED

First of all, if you've never gotten a cloth all red before when detailing your car, then you've never polished it before. 87s don't have clearcoat so when the polish starts to remove the top layer of paint your rag will get all red. Its a fact of life, and any polish or compound will do it.

Second, you've got to really work it for it to work. It will work better with a random orbital buffer because the buffer will get the compound up to temp so it can work better.

Should I wax it first?!

then use the 3M stuff?!

I washed it and let it dry...then used the perfect-it

You should not wax it first before you use the 3m stuff. Your best bet like Kyle K. suggested would be to use an orbital buffer because it can really work this stuff in and you will get great results, really doing it by hand doesn't cut it.
