I have scuff marks from my shoe (or previous owners shoes) on my sideskirts. My car is black, so you can see where the paint is dull there is a scuff. How do I remove them? They don't come off when washing, haven't tried waxing it either...
Thanks.

My mom's car has scuff marks on her silver paint on the door, very noticeable... doesnt come off when I wash either :(

I also have some nasy light scratches/scuffs on my trunk.

So any help would be appreciated.

It's hard to tell how to fix it without being able to see it. If the scuff mark is rubber from a shoe, then maybe something like Goo Gone or Goof Off will take it off (wash and wax afterwards!). If it's really light scratching, maybe wax will take care of it. Or maybe a scratch remover. Be careful with polishing or rubbing compounds (the clearcoat is thin, and it'll really look bad if you go through it).

Nite, if you want, I'll take a look at your cars sometime and see if I can do anything about it...

:buttrock Thanks! I just noticed the trunklid today, the paint is not looking good to me... or maybe its just because it was so dirty.... Do you have a buffer? I think I smell a Maintenance AND Detail day coming up :D :D

Nope, no buffer, but I know someone who has one (and might let me borrow it). However, being that I've never used one, I'd probably stay away from it. I don't want to do anything to risk damaging things further. Simple, mild stuff by hand or I don't touch it :)

Of course, now that I think of it, you have a black car. I think black is the hardest to get looking perfect. :help

No promises that I can fix it (or that I'll even touch it after I look), but I'll at least take a look to assess.

Lol, very true, but black just looks so sexy when its clean. If you use a random orbital buffer you can leave it on your paint all day and not have to worry about it damaging it. Now a rotary buffer on the other hand... :help. I think a little 3M SMR or or something along those lines will make the trunk look good again. They're not deep scratches so that you can see the metal, but they dont look pretty.

BTW, I want to feel the ride on H&R Coilovers and hear that AA exhaust sometime :). What summer wheels do you have?

Use Maquires Scratch X. Mine were all scratched up too, and it took out all of the scratches. It works great!

I have 2 bottles of that stuff in my garage, I tried it once and it didn't seem to work well if it all. I'll try it again on the stuff I have on my hood and the door of my mom's car.

On the other hand, the Goo Gone I tried on my mom's car didnt work at all. I'll try attacking it tomorrow, it has been on the car for a while though.

Oh, well, we can fix that. I have some coarse sandpaper as well as a Dremel. We can have those scratches down to the metal in no time :D

Sure thing. I have GC RSMs, too (too lazy to update the signature), so it'll be slightly more harsh with those.

My summer wheels are M3 LTW forged. :)

i dont know if this will help, but my body shop has an oil based rubbing (post-paint rubdown stuff) compound that took off scratches that i swore needed repainting...ask around at auto shops...napa and car quest and stuff may have some...

heck, just squirt some onto a paper towel in the store, and go out and try them one by one like that...make sure they wont damage paint...cause these solventy things are strong.
