Scantool options for 94 325i?

What are some options for viewing engine data for a 94? Are there any good software solutions and what kind of data will you be able to read?

You can always try some standard apps like carsoft, to read and diagnose more deeply you'll need access to some high end machines/software. ;)

Might not have much luck with pre OBD2 DME.

You can read certain things from the DME's RAM while it's running. Need to know your DME or Motronic version to let you know what can be read and what memory locations to read them from.

Snap-on Scanner MT-2500 sell for around 100-200usd with older BMW card. Sometime you need to source the obd1 cable but I see them selling for 30-50 usd often. Very comprehensive scanner. I've used them since the early 90ies.

Edit: Also with a current card you can do OBD2 (generic) too.
