Yesterday on my way home from work I got a wreckless driving ticket (paced
at 98 mph on a 55 mph zone) on Dulles toll road eastbound. I was playing
with an e46 M3 and before we knew it triple digit speeds ensued...truth is I

don't know how the cop paced me because he pulled me over after the toll
both?? and was nowhere to be seen when I was at speed??... but he said he
paced me at 98 mph???....however I was at 125 before I slowed down??

Anyway I'm really upset, frustrated, and dissapointed about
this....especially since I should have known better particularly in Fairfax
County on the Dulles tollroad and since I just did 2 days of ass haulin' at
Summit Point, you'd think I'd get it outta my system at least until this
weekend when I go back to Summit....man I'm pissed! I don't even like drag
racing yet this damn situation got the best of me....in truth I really like
high speeds but ussually when I speed on public roads there is not another
car involved...and I'll do it in shorter spurts and slow back down....and in

general I'm very comfortable, calm, and controlled at very high speeds maybe

perhaps because it is routine on the race track....if I don't mitigate this
behavior on the street, and the M3 LTW doesn't help here, I'll get into a
lot of trouble and hassle I don't need in my life.

I really need some help and your a Lawyer so maybe you know more about these

things than most folks... I assume I'll need a lawyer, do you know of a good

VA Lawyer (Faifax County) who specializes in traffic cases like this one? I've learned an
important lesson here and would not like to have my ass chewed by the evil
Commonwealth of VA...any advice or insight about my situation?

Thanks,

Sunir,

Sorry to hear about your ticket. Is your license for MD or VA? If it's still MD then you might be in luck... The last time I checked VA tickets don't transfer to MD. The last time I got a ticket in VA my insurance company was notified that I had a traffic violation but they didn't get any details (they actually asked me how fast the ticket was for). No info, no rate increase.

no points from any of my VA speeding tickets transferred to my MD license.

Lucky bastard. If none of the points transfer, just pay the fine and be done with it.

Umm.. not sure if you guys heard. But VA is VERY strict on their speeding/driving laws. They RARELY ever let you go, the points might not transfer, but you'll prolly be a** raped in fines.

Don't want to scare you or nuttin. But I know a personal friend who got pulled over for speeding (over 100) and racing another car in VA. Went to court, etc... no luck and the judge threw him in jail for a week :(

I don't think that is an option. I heard that anything over 79 in VA is considered wreckless driving and is an automatic court appearance.

The main issue with the court appearance is if they saw you "playing with an e46 M3". The judge might be harder on you if he thinks you were racing.

So, one of my coworkers told me this funny story today about how he was on the toll road last week and these two white M3s blew past him on both sides. He was in his 400HP 300z TT, but decided to let the Ms have their fun. Besides, it's the toll road, meaning cops galore, and so he wasn't too surprised when a cop pulled off the airport access road after the toll plaza and nailed you.

He did say that the other driver was being more of a dick and weaving in and out of traffic more, but them's the breaks.

Sounds like you learned the lesson, so I hope you come up with a way out of it. Dangerous stuff, but sometimes it's hard to help yourself. I've been lucky so far.
