like the title says. are there any fitment issues with the hardware for a dinan OBDII vortech kit bolting onto an OBDI M3? Tuning is not an issue.

i'm sure everything should fit fine, you may need to do some small custom work since you have the obd1 manifold and throttle housing.

there not very helpful most of the time but you might get lucky, try giving dinan a call to see if they have any differences in hardware...

so far from what i gathered from slcook54's loooong post the oil dipstick needs to have a tube fitted for the return line to the vortech. also the tubing upstream of the supercharger is different. other than that there's tuning, but i have that already.
anything else?

You'll need to relocate the charcoal cannister over to the passenger side in front of the ECU compartment, and an OBD2 kit won't have that hardware. Your tuning needs to keep in mind that you won't be able to use the MAF scaler from the OBD2 kit either.

These guys are both correct. My post from my thread is seen below, but John (Croak) can better answer the Dinan specific questions since I had an RMS kit, although I believe the differences between the kits are the same.
Well guys, the installation troubles continue, I definitely wish I had taken the time to research the product better, but the price was good, so I jumped on it.
For those wondering if OBDI and OBDII kits are compatible, they are definitely not! Some misinformation in previous threads let me to assume that they were, and we know what happens to those who assume. I was already aware the software was obviously different, but other key elements were overlooked.
First the oil dipstick Tube is used for the oil return line from the supercharger, OBDII cars contain a nipple on the dipstick while OBDI cars do not! This part is necessary in plumbing the oil return. RMS will weld a nipple onto a dipstick for about $95.
Second, on OBDII cars, it is not necessary to relocate the charcoal canister, however, on OBDI cars it is, therefore, you will need the charcoal canister relocation wiring or source it from a store locally.
Third, the discharge tube (a $200 part) is completely different, the OBDII unit is meant to attach to the throttle body and takes on an "S" shape, while the OBDI unit takes the form of a question mark.
First is the OBDII unit

i have hoses and stuff from another kit to relocate the charcoal canister. i also have OBDI tuning for my ECU. I'll have to swap out for a 540 HFM and 43# injectors, but the tuning should be good for up to 12 psi.

They Both attach to a throttlebody... Difference is the obdi connects to the conventional TB while the OBDII connects to the Tracs TB, and is therefore shorter and terminates at an angle with a larger opening.
>>the oil dipstick Tube is used for the oil return line from the supercharger, OBDII cars contain a nipple on the dipstick while OBDI cars do not!<<
This one puzzles me for the moment.. Since its got the nipple, why does Dinan include, in their OBDII kit, a brand new Oil Dipstick tube? I beleive its got to have two nipples on it: one for the plenum purge valve that connects to the cyclone separator, and the other to the Vortech oil return line. Could that be the reason? ie, it needs two nipples instead of the one?

The fact that they both attach to the throttle body wasn't my point, merely that OBDI and OBDII discharge tubes are different and will require additional $ to get an OBDII kit to bolt up to an OBDI car.
Dinan uses two nipples on their dipstick because OBDII cars require the cyclone separator, OBDI cars do not use this, thus they only require one nipple.
