right now i have the option of two different cars...

1. 97 M3 coupe lux package, arctic/blk. about 35k miles. its absolutely beautiful. barely any scratches, just normal wear and tear. the interior is immaculate with black leather that looks almost new, barely any serious wear. However its gonna cost me. hes asking $25.5k which i feel is a bit much, and i am not gonna spend that much. id go up to 24, maybe 24.5k. although he doesnt seem all that flexible. so prolly 24.5k at lowest.

2. 97 M3 coupe lux package, arctic/blk. about 55k miles. theres quite a few scratches on this one though. on the rear bumper and a few on the sides. also the front bumper i dont think was installed properly cuz its a little loose. the interior is pretty nice, its more worn than the other one, but its not bad. his cars listed for about 22k though. im thinkin i could get him to like 20-20.5k maybe, then spend the money to fix the scrathes and the installation of the bumper.

EDIT: guy #2 has an extended warrenty til 2006 or 100k miles

What do you guys think? which one do you think i should buy, or which would be more worth it? also, how much does it actually cost to fix scratches? theyre not that deep, not like anyone keyed the car. but still, bout how much? and also the front bumper? thanks for the help.

get the lower mile one you might pay a little but you will get peace of mind. The rest is up to you.

You can fix the scratches yourself. All you need is a good power polisher and some nice compounds. If you do a search on it, you'll get a huge amount of info. Good Luck. :)

i'd go for the first one....pay a little more now for excellent quality and condition and it will probably save you down the road, plus you will be much happier.

as far as the second one....if the guy doesn't take good car of his exterior, who knows what he has down to the engine and interior.

do you guys think it is worth it to pay $24.5 - $25k for the first car??

i also forgot to mention the 2nd guy has an extended warrenty til 2006 or 100,000 miles. I edited it.

go for the first one, there is no substitute for lower miles

the miles really aren't so much of a problem as the condition of the car.

it just so happens the first one is in better condition so its a win win situation:)

I'd go with the second M3.

A spread of 20k miles isn't anything when you're talking below 60k. Check the tranny, engine, etc., then make your choice. And with a 100k warranty, you really can't go wrong.

I disagree, he needs the 60K service and that's hella expensive, unless he is going to do it himself = about $1500 at least. Plus, 100K warranties mean shit IMO. If you take care of the car, most likely you will never need it.

Good point, I didn't take the 60k mile service into consideration. However, he's going to pay the $1,500+ somewhere down the line, anyway. I'd rather have 55k on the clock, and 45k to back me up just incase a stupid, yet painfully expensive act does occur.

However, if you do go for the first one, offer him $24,000 and see if you can meet somewhere in the middle.

Good luck.
