Rotrex SC Oil

Search function seems not to be working this morning - Is there anything I can use other than the rotrex oil? Or, is that all I should run?

And, can I mix this new oil with the old rotrex oil without a change?

I would not use an alternate. It serves more function than just a lubricant.

there really is no substitute for the rotrex traction oil.... just get it from AA or somewhere... something like 80$ a bottle

WFT?!? Why so expensive? It's oil. Any, I've seemed to make quite a bit of it 'disapear' in only a few weeks of driving.

There's nothing else you can use. It's not really oil, it's a traction fluid. It's Rotrex specific, you may be able to source it from someone else other than AA, but it's GOT to be Rotrex fluid.

its the fluid that actually causes the impeller to spin

without the fluid there would be no boost

the rotrex units seem to consume quite a bit of the stuff during spirited driving

and yes you can just top it off,
maybe change it every 7500 or 10k miles?? not sure if theres a specified interval

You can top it off, but when it comes time to change it, it needs to be drained and refilled.

I never consumed any in my car with over 30k miles on the AA system...

IIRC, my conversation with AA 2yrs ago is that the fluid never needs changing. I also recall another Rotrex vendor advising it be changed at 50k miles. There's no way I'm changing this fluid every 7.5-10k at $100-150 a bottle.

Also, with 25k on my Rotrex, my fluid level has not changed.

I never really needed any. AA did send me another bottle of it with my new C30 that Rotrex warrantied, but that was the only time...

The blower had close to 50k on it and was one of the 1st batch that had been recalled. As far as I know, the second blower has at least that on it or more with no issues.
