got the chance to get an M62 from a 98 540i with harness and ecu for 1500, wondering how involved it would be to swap into my 330ci. i'd imagine i'd have to find a manual trans from one(the motor comes with an auto), as i don't think the E46's trans will bolt up to the M62, which probably means a drive shaft is in order as well... can it fit? it looks like its a bit shorter than the M54 in my 330, but how much wider is it? how much heavier is the M62 as compared to my M54? would this be worth it? this would be a bit more work than i've done in the past, i've done motor swaps, but not on newer cars, mainly on RX7's or old chevy's... i also know that not many are messing with the E46's like this as well, so i don't expect a lot of responses...

edit: found the weight difference, would upset the weight balance a bit up front... almost 100lb's difference...

edit2: also just found this post, sounds like an M62 might fit if an S62 does, but he doesn't go into specifics on what if any modifications needed to be done to fit it...
