Does anyone on here have any tricks to adjusting/alligning all of the TB butterflys? I have gotten mine a little closer than they were by using a carburator flow rate tool.

I assume you mean vacuum guage? that is best way

yes kind of. You may have a better tool than I do, do you have a pic?

I have a four tube motorcycle mercury filled gauge.
I would think that this would be best as you can compare four cylinders at once then overlap, but I haven't felt the need to do it!
It would really only affect idle smoothness.

where did you get this?

I forget where I got the thing. I have had it for years.
But they are readily available from motorcycle parts suppliers.
I suggest you google Carburettor synchronization gauge or similar.

Ah, so you use a tool and hook it up to the vacuum fitting at the top of the tbs?

Cool thread.
Would love to hear more about the benefits of this balancing.... but thought (as posted before me) that it was primarily to help with idle smoothness.
Would love to hear of additional benefits incase I'm misinformed.
Like many, if I see any farther, its because I stand on other's shoulders.

the main adjustment for the throttle plates is WOT , i was told by a tech from bmw gb bracknell that the plates are actually set to tip over to cause turbulance

nice... yes, the main advantages are at Idle, and WOT, however theoretically it is more dificult for the dme to adjust the flow rate of the injectors, if the flaps arent alligned. Think about it, there is only one tps sensor.

I don't know if this really affects anything other than idle, such as Alex stated. If we were this concerned with flap sychronization, I would just eliminate the butterfly valves all together and use sliding gates such as the ones used on E36 and some E46 touring cars. Ideally, you can bend air up to 15 degrees without creating enormous turbulance, and if your flaps are this out of whack, I can see the benefit, but if not, what am I missing?

The throttle synch affects idle and off-idle performance and smoothness. There are detailed S14/S38 throttle synch pages at http://home.insightbb.com/~todd.kenyon/throttle.htm, and the S50B30 is similar enough that you can figure out where to go from there.
I have a set of the Carbtune mechanical manometers, and they work well for synchronising S14s and S38s. Never done an S50B30, yet. We have two regular customers with B30s, and I'd like to give them a whack, but it's hard to get someone to spend 4-5 hours labor time on something like that.
The S50B32 does not have the ability to manually synchronise the throttles using manometers. The vacuum ports do not exist, and the individual bypass adjustment screw holes are capped off. The idle smoothness is handled inside the Siemens MSS50 DME.
