If that is an indication of anything... he's officially cancelled his M3 order to go with a 135 instead. And by "in" I mean one of my contacts with BMW.

I am hoping the 135I will be a great car. I was told that proble May 22 is when my dealership is going to get one. I am gonna be the first one to test drive it and hopefully place my order for it or the X3

What does he say about an M version?

Did he have an opportunity to drive either?
Got a special briefing by BMWNA?

From what I was told. Nothing on a "M" version. There is just a "M" areo kit. He said that they post to go in Jan/Feb for a weekend to go and test drive and and have a class on it. He also post to go for the new M3. Lucky bastard.

Just think about the 135I with a chip, CAI, a better boost controller & bigger turbos.

Yeha...and BMW said no M Z4, no Z4 coupe, etc etc etc. I assure you, BMW knows if they are going to build it. Its not just like "Whoops, here is an M Z4"- which is basically what they did.

Making a M1 will be difficult because of the past generation M1. Maybe a 135 Performance Pkg or "si". And believe me, they aren't going to give up the information until the absolutely last minute. If you know an M1 is coming soon, you're not going to buy a 135 now. They'd rather you buy a 135 now and upgrade to an M1 two years from now.
I wonder how much stuff from the M3 will fit onto the 1series.

I have thought about a 24, 30 or 36 month lease on a 135 to let BMW "figure it out".

To the OP - So you thinking about grabbing the m3?

And why would he not? 135i plus Vishnu v2, catback, and Quaife LSD = over 400 managable crank hp and the 135 is 200+ lbs lighter. And you would still save enough money over an E92 M3 to make a downpayment on a house. I don't know about you, but the prestige of driving a V8 M3 starts to look a little expensive to me when you consider that comparison.

I will be getting the second one at my dealership and I can't wait for it.

This is exciting news. I have an E36 328is and E39 530i and now my GF wants a Bimmer. Maybe a 135 will be in her(our) future ;)

Since I work at a dealership I can get a really good deal on a 135 once it comes out. I thought about it though, and I seriously don't want to give up the individuality factor of the MC for a 1 series. The car is going to be more prevalent than the 3 series, so 99% of people are going to think it's just another 128i. and the driving experience, while it is going to be fun, just won't compare to the raw, old school feel of the MC.
I'm keeping my car until I want a 1 series for a DD, which isn't going to be anytime soon since I don't plan on ever selling the Golf

I've searched (maybe not well enough), but I haven't found out if the 135i will enable us to avoid—
• run-flats, and
• the cigarette lighter-looking thing you have to carry and stick into the dashboard, then push the button to start the car. Can we just use the key, please?
I'm stoked about the 135i—hate to be an early adopter, but I might be.
Thanks for your help on the questions above.

The 135i will come standard with run-flats. There have been no pictures or bulletins to suggest otherwise. The 135i is wearing Bridgestone RE050A II RFTs in the press release photos.
Comfort access (the cigarette looking keyfob as you called it) will be available. It has not been published if it will be standard or optional. All the interior pictures I have seen show the car with comfort access FWIW.

With the first official review from caranddriver stating that the E92 M3 will get between 13 to 19mpg ... it has really left my segment of "acceptable" daily driving cars. I drive too much to be driving a car that is going to give me 13mpg. As it is, I'm already going to the gas station almost every other day.

How is 29 mpg not far more efficient than 19?
Anyways, the 128i will have different front and rear bumpers. The 135i will come stock with the "M aero package" that we have all seen in all of the press release photos. I'd be surprised if the 135i WONT get rated at 30 mpg or higher..being lighter smaller and cheaper than its E90 and E92 brethren

Ding ding. The only thing I'm worried about is modding with a warranty. Would suspension and brake mods void the warranty?

That depends on the dealer and if the failed part was caused by the mod. It's a dicey situation anyway you look at it.

I've said it a few times, but it's always a good idea to find a Service Advisor who is an enthusiast, preferably a CCA member. If the modification is a direct result of something breaking, there is not much either of you can do. Although an enthusiast SA might be able to "pull some strings" to get the issue resolved.
