I am relatively new to this forum and have a 335i Conv on order that I will pick up (Performance Center Delivery - PCD) in Spartanburg, SC next Monday.

Although it appears quite a number of the forum participants order their cars, I do not see a lot of discussion regarding the PCD.

I did the PDC for my wife’s '02 Z3 and it was fantastic. The fact that you get to take a car nearly identical to what you ordered and put it through its paces is really cool.

How many people have done the PCD? If not, why?

There is no additional cost other than transportation to Spartanburg, SC. BMW provides the hotel and meals. Then you get to drive your baby home!!!

I'm curious why this is not more popular with this group.

Thanks for the feedback.

Look on other forums and you'll find plenty of PCD threads. It's so popular that their reservations are full well in advance. Note that E90post and Bimmerfest forums have many more posts than this one so you shouldn't judge only by the posts you see here.

I really didn't consider PCD. Maybe my next BMW buying experience with involve that. It sounds fun and a one of a kind experience. Could I take delivery and then pay the Destination Fee to have it sent to San Diego??

Yes you can. It is a great experience. I highly recommend it.

I took delivery from the PC on 7/5/07 --- Tremendous fun. The people there went out of their way to make sure everyone had a great experience. I can't recommend this highly enough.

You pay exactly the same for PCD (including the Destination Fee) as you would pay for delivery at your dealer. Shipment from the PCD to your dealer can be arranged but at extra cost (and the amount of the extra cost is not connected to the Destination Fee).

I am a police officer (I come in peace). I've taken high speed driving courses, driven skid cars and all that cool stuff. Of course Crown Victorias do not handle like our BMWs and I know it would be an experience in a BMW. I'll put it on my list of life's things to do.

I picked up my 330i sport pack in S.C.. Before I went to pick up the car i was able to attend the 2 day driving school with my dad and brother. What an awesome experience! The best part was the cars were not yours! ie the break pads, and tires! This truly meant a guilt free driving experience!

The staff there goes out of their way to make sure your experience is amazing! And your get to drive through the S.C. mountains in your new Bimmer...I recommend this for anyone and everyone who is getting a BMW. Hopefully with the purchase of my next car I can take delivery in Germany...can you say Nuremberg?

Good info. I considered it, but work schedule uncertainties (and delivery time from Germany) made me decide to pick up from dealer. I also have a mother in law living about 10 miles from the SC facility and that helped alot in my decision.

I'm going down on the 30th to get mine. I'm looking forward to the day there and the ride back north through the mountains to Ohio.

It's the truth, my sister in law lives down there as well. I'd spend my entire time going to peach orchards.
