This is on my M Contours. The lip has some tiny specs of black from the previous owner not cleaning their wheels for years. Is there any way to get the black dots out without repainting the wheel? These seem to be bumps rather than dents so I am hopeful that it is surface contaminants only. TIA.

I have similar brake dust spots. I'm going to try a clay bar when I get the chance to work on them.

The spots could also be tar. Try a bug and tar remover or an adhesive remover first.

I had the same problem on my Contours, after washing the wheel thoroughly, I used cleaner wax from I think Mothers, it worked great. Try a small area and see how it goes.

Are you sure that's just not pitting in the lip from rocks, etc?

More than likely, the wheels are pitted and that brake dust isn't going to come off.

You can try a fine cutting compound like Perfect It II, that should do the trick if they aren't pits.

You could try some wheel wax, haven't used it but ive heard that it cleans up the wheel very well and makes it look nice for a while too.
