If something *seems* too good to be true... grr. Stupid cliches that remain true. As you guys wisely suggested, I'm staying up to date on autotrader, roadfly, ebay, and craigslist in my search for an e34.

I guess I"m looking for a little advice on what to look for, as well as references if anyone has seen an e34 that fits a description of what I'm looking for.

So here it is - my moderately realistic dream e34:

Model: 535i
Tranny: Manual
Mileage: Under 200k
Exterior: Black, Silver (other okay colors: Calypso, Cinneberry)
Interior: STRONG preference for black, but won't rule out others
Price: $3500 or less
Other: Suspension mods are a great plus, Aftermarket wheels if tasteful are great, clears are great, minimal visible wear is a huge plus. I'd pay up to $4k for the absolute perfect specimen for me. Close to me is good too (52233)

Any particular year of 535i better than another? I'd also consider a 530i 5spd if it fits the rest.

Thanks for suggestions, references, etc!

-Evan

you can come steal the one from the jackass down the street.
He drives like an imbecile, speeding thru the neighborhood at 45+ pedal to the floor with only his highbeams working... which gives me a bad name... because they are both black.

Very nice looking wheels... and car for that matter. I have the same oxidation on the bumper issue as well as the temperamental alarm.

I just wanted to be completely up front with everyone on the condition. I dont have time for low ballers cause I would rather keep it than to give it away. Its one of those things where I spend thousands to get it running perfectly then realize I dont want it.

My daily driver has a 5/100,000 bumper to bumper and a 72 month paint, dent and interior no deductible repair warranty. Its a no brainer for something I need to sit in daily. A little tougher for a car like this E34 where you dont want to abuse it and spend lots of money and time getting it running well.
