Just had to do a quick little vent here. In my ten years of owning vehicles, I have never had to replace a windshield until last week when a rock destroyed the windshield on my M. So I get it replaced, and today, a rock flew up and shattered my BRAND NEW windshield. Both hits spidered extensively immediately. Both out of pocket unfortunately. Two windshields in two weeks. :mad

Stupid, dumb, rocks . . .

that sucks man,
however, you ever consider glass coverage on your insurance policy? IMO, you should have everything possible on it, especially if its an ///m with all those mods. sorry to hear about a shit expense.:rolleyes

On average, you will replace a windshield every 7 years. Hopefully you are set for the next 14.

Which company did you go with and how much did you pay?

I have State Farm insurance, and they USED to cover windshields. They dropped glass from the coverage last summer (it was a company wide thing from what they told me, which PO'd me at the time) and THEN I get two busted windshields. So I USED to have glass insurance, until State Farm decided to go cheap on me . . .

FWIW I paid $215 for the first one, second one will probably be more of the same.

He can just drive with his head out the side window, like ace ventura!

But with his luck, that is until a rock flies up and catches him in the face, then he'll have to take off the windshield bra

lol, yeah I'd much rather buy a new windshield than have to purchase a new face from my local plastic surgeon.

One thing I have noticed is that the windshield on my M seems to crack easier than other cars. Even before the first windshield was broken for good, I was always taking it in to get rock chips repaired (which is how I found out State Farm dropped the glass repair last summer).

So I wonder if BMW uses thinner glass than most. The hits that cracked the windshield didn't sound THAT bad, yet the damage was substantial.

State Farm stopped waiving deductibles on repairs. If your comp. deductible is $100 or less, it is still worth your time to file the claim. Otherwise pay out of pocket.

It must be because in Florida, all insurance companies are force to cover windshields without deductible. I believe this goes even if you don't have full coverage and only PIP.
