535i Safety Features?

Hey guys I was looking at getting an E34 535i and from what I have read they look like good solid cars. One thing that I could not find though was any safety features that they have? Airbags? Anything like that?

they come standard with a drivers side airbag. i cant remember which year it is but i think its 93 or 94 that passanger side airbags became standard. but of course they didnt make 535s in 94

On US spec cars, all except '89 525 have a driver's front airbag. '95 production (and maybe some late production '94s? -- definitely in europe) have a passenger front airbag.

An airbag is a love/hate piece of equipment. Lots of people don't want an explosive charge going off in their faces during a moment of panic. So some are disabled.

Aside from airbags...For what it is, it's a fairly safe car. Door beam intrusion bars, well constructed unibody of high grade steel. And some gimmicks, like the crash control module, which could very well save a life after an accident.
