Finally, it is all fixed thanks to Crevier BMW in Santa Ana. My service advisor, Miguel, really took care of me. :redspot Props to them

Now it is all fixed and lookin pretty again:

Soooo...some celebration was in order yesterday, and I hit up the Buttonwillow track in CA for some great time:

I had a blast and got over 100 miles of seat time. I have driven on this track before in my mkIV GTI but I definitely had more fun in the M3. The M is definitely a driver's car when compared to the GTI. It definitely felt nice to compare the 2 cars with my butt-o-meter than to read it from a magazine.

Overall I am stoked and cant wait fo the next track day. I think I am becoming a track junkie. hmmm :D

Insurance covered it up. I had $500 deductible. I know it seems high but they did a lot of damage to the wiring harness and broke lots of things inside. i needed a new wiring harness, antenna cable, cd cable etc. Left door is new and they could fix the rear door so I kept the old one. The repair order is about 3 pages long. Damm I hate thieves :evil2

Anyways its back to normal and I am very happy. :buttrock

The silver lining is that after all the vandalisim and not having your car for 2 months, at least a bunch of parts have been replaced and it's probably looking as good as it ever has. I remember when my Z3 got messed up and when it came back I had a perfect paint job that made it all alright.

How the heck did the door bend like that?

Wow! I'm so happy to see it back together.

When I first saw those damage pics, I was horrified.

is your sedan stock? do you have any mods? I want to take mine to the local SCCA for some fun to see how it compares to my old corolla

The vandals utilized some type of bar and created significant leverage.

yeah my car is stock except for Bilstein shocks. Slowly I will upgrade the suspension (sway bars etc) but I think that will be about it. Maybe a diff later on. You should definitely take the car auto-x or to a track day. Its a blast.

The thieves pryed the door but they couldnt open it. They also tried the lock and that didnt work. Eventually they broke the rear windows and ransacked the whole car.

The car was in the shop for about a month a a half and then it took another week or so for the radio. Its amazing how many little pieces they f-d up and we had to wait for all these parts.

It looks good but you can tell it has been resprayed etc. Definitely not virgin anymore but hey its just so much more rewarding since now I dont have to worry about every little stupid scratch or dent (which it still has none).

Anyway we will see how it goes.

lately i've been thinking of not using the double lock feature because of idiot thieves that will cause more damage...

at least when they open the door the alarm will sound...

glad u have ur car back. looks good.

glad to hear that the car is back together, but from those pics, it looks like the respray/paint matching is absolutely horrible...

How can you tell? I have an eye for mismatched paint and I can't tell from the pics?

I can tell. In the pic where the front is facing the camera, the drivers door is notably lighter than the rear.

But hey..what can you do. Almost impossible to get paint thats what..8-9 years old..to match up with paint thats brand new

I need a door resprayed (bad scratch) on my other car..which is a 2002. Im tempted to request that they simply go ahead and paint the entire side.both doors, fender, and quarter panel. More out of my pocket, but I will be guaranteed that all panels match when viewed from that side angle.

I thought it was more of the glare from the sun, but OK. I do know Silver can be tough to match sometimes.
