Ok ive had this problem for a long time now and its really bothering me.

My car shifts too early. Ive tried to adjust the throttle cable but it seems as though the tranny thinks i'm pressing the gas harder than I am.

My traction control light is also on.

I have a feeling that these problems have to do with cable adjustments.

The problem started when I got my car back together after an intake manifold gasket job.

Some questions I have might help me track down the problem. Which cable does the transmission use to see where the throttle position is?

Does the traction control cable have anything to do with shifting?

Your throttle position sensor could have gone bad... If you have a multimeter, check the value and see what the Bentley says it's supposed to be.

try driving in the "4" gear it wont shift untill redline or you get off the gas.when my 530i is in "d" and i floor it it always persists on shifting at about 3k for first and 5k for 2nd

yes, try "s4" if you havent already. in economic mode the car shifts way to early, even if you take it to the floor without pretting the WOT botton which redlines it. it should be better, if not, it might be a problem. i hope you figure it out.
