i recently bought a 1995 530i and it has plenty of power but me being a teenager and needing to have the fastest car on the block is a must.any suggestions on what most cost effective upgrades would give me the most power for my buck?and what type of muffler would sound the best on this 3 liter v8?thanks

maybe you should be driving a mustang. or maybe a honda with nawwwwwzzzz.
your 530 is never gonna be the "fastest car on the block" by a long shot. and if that is what you bought it for then maybe you are better off without it???
bolt-on's are not gonna substantially increase the power of the M60 engine that you have. FI would but I dont know of any large scale kits readily available for your car. the 65hp difference in your M60b30 versus the M60b40 (540i) is obviously due to displacement. other then openning up the motor or going FI you are not gonna make up that difference.
good luck and try to get out of the mindset of your car needing "to be the fastest on the block". enjoy it for what it is! e34's are amazing and the chasis dynamics are really what set that car apart!

Sell the BMW and get a Mustang, Honda, etc. BMW's are not meant to be 'the fastest car on the block' - you're barking up the wrong tree. Well, let me rephrase that - without spending GOBS of cash, they won't be the fastest car on the block.
The money you'd spend on getting that 530i up to your specs, you could easily buy a Mustang and put some F.I. on it.
Get out of the mindset of 'speed FTW!'. It may save your life, and it'll definitely save your bank account and driver's license.

+2 on what they said, i have the same car as u as for a m60 block its not going to be super fast, i mean you can do regular things like chip it for better throttle response but if u wanted speed, you should have gotten at 540 6spd or a m5, these cars are great to drive weither or not having enough speed or "fastest on the block"

BMWs are fast enough for most people, they're very comfortable cars and do provide enough power to have some fun. Fine, you can't win all races with them, but if you want an overpowered POS, get yourself some Japanese sportscar. You're going to get yourself busted if you're not careful though.

Really the only practical engine mod on these cars is a performance chip. The intakes and exhaust are very good already. Unless you want to spend more than the car is worth, get a nice EAT chip. It did wondersfor my six-banger.

ive already found a chip on tuner motorsport that says it increases hp +23 and tq +23 would and EAT chip be even better that that!?

upgrade suspension if you want to make your bimmer better. Or, save up the cash and swap for the 4.0L in the future.

sorry to say man, these motors are very unrestrictive. FI is your only bet, other than mods to accommodate your driving style: suspension, throttle response, etc. Most you will ever get N/A is 30-40 bhp...

LSD is a nice upgrade if you don't have one, poor mans super charger. But the 530i is not a high performance sports car, its more of a subtle, classy "this car can do that!?!?" car. And like the guys above said, if you want "the fastest car on the block" its not got to be the 530i. Rice out a honda, or get a mustang, or some other dime a dozen vehicle if thats your goal.
