I'm going to do a e36 s52 turbo build up and im looking to make 500rwhp. I was wondering if any bmw manual transmissions would bolt up to this motor and handle that much power. If not what is the best aftermarket option.
What about the limits of the rearend?
One more...if i decided to do a swap instead of buying the m3 are there any differences in the driveline?
sorry if these questions are obvious but i couldnt find the answers...any help is appreciated.

Which car?
An E36 M3 tranny is fine for only 500 RWHP. A stock LSD will crap out after a few thousand miles, diffsonline.com is the best place to get a replacement. The clutch will need to be upgraded too, UUC makes the best application for 500 with street driving. The driveshaft will snap if you drag race and have traction, the Driveshaft Shop is the only place for an upgrade; next to go will be the axles.

Read in the FI forum, and ask questions; everything has been answered.

M3 and 328 ZF transmissions have been proven to hold 1000whp... so I wouldn't bother looking at aftermarkets (I don't even know of any). The only thing you could do, is swap a 6 speed in for a cruising gear.

If you are boosting your car, spend the money and get an lsd differential. It probably makes sense to get a 3.15 lsd if you want to save a little money. Or diffsonline would be more than happy to make you a custom geared diff.

The driveline of an M3 is stronger (this coming from a S52 swapped car). Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the following different: trailing arms, control arms, halfshafts, and diffs, etc.?

EDIT: Most of the following answered above. Believe this guy, he knows what he's talking about.
