Key fob re-programme 1999

My battery want flat in my key fob (two button grey and red). I replaced the battery but it no longer open/closes the car. The little red led on the fob flashes. Does anyone know how to reprograme this as it will be expensive at the stealers.

find your valet button ( check under dash, glove box, under passenger side dash for a very very small black push button style switch)

Turn key 2 clicks. Push& hold valet button w/in 5 seconds of turning key, press Unlock Button (if you have a siren you should hear one chirp) release valet switch.

Push valet button twice and hold on 2nd. Press Lock button. (you should hear two chirps.) Release valet button and turn key off (you should hear 3 chirps)


DONE-! thats how i did mine when i first had it, then i upgraded to a viper alarm with shock sensors.

these are the instructions I got for my 98 328. they didn't work but might on yours. Substitute fob for key, who knows? When
Key added or replaced.
How
Unlock vehicle using key UNLOCK button.

NOTE: If vehicle was not unlocked using key UNLOCK button,
programming
procedure will be blocked for 15 minutes.

Enter vehicle. Close driver's door.
Switch ignition ON and OFF.
Programming mode activated.
Proceed as follows:
Press and hold key UNLOCK button
Press key LOCK button 3 times within 10 seconds keeping key
UNLOCK button [1] depressed.
Release key UNLOCK button .
Some models: LED flashes slowly for 10 seconds.
System should lock and unlock vehicle to indicate programming has
been
successful.
Repeat above procedure if LED does not flash or central locking
system does
not work.
Repeat above procedure to program remaining keys.
NOTE: A maximum of 4 keys can be programmed. Carry out programming
procedure

...MINE LIGHTS UP but never locks or unlocks the doors, i always have to use the key.

Supposed to be for factory alarm on 98 328. I pulled the lower dash panel on passenger side to find valet switch, found alarm but no switch. didn't trace wires in clear plastic tube that ran towards console, figured it was for led indicator. I'll look further tomorrow, gotta get up at 3:30 AM for work.

Im subscribed, I also have fob but its not programmed.

I have found some instructions on the net...that made me look a prat (open boot, open door etc etc etc), they didnt work!

I found loads of references to a 'chip' programming frame, and I have the chip for my keyfob but cannot find the programming frame :confused

I looked further today. The 2 wires in the tube have to go to the indicator, nothing under the cup holders or ash tray or under the drivers side dash. I even opend the alarm box, nothing but circuitry. Of course a small little black switch could hide in plain sight if it's really tiny. The guy I bought the fob from claims I'm not following the instructions properly, I"m old and dumb, but I can read.:rolleyes
