Pleeease listen and try to give some feedback.
94 318i auto 92,000

For background, at about 87,000 miles I had my trans rebuilt and running fine. On Friday I went surfing and was heading home on the freeway when I felt a slip and saw the check engine and transmission lights on. I imediatley noticed a lost of power and could not get beyond 3500rpm. I belive the transmission was locked in 3rd gear. So I pulled over and tried resting the car and resetting the battery with no success.
Tuesday the shop that rebuilt my transmission ran some computer test and found a faulty TPS sensor. After changing it and resetting the computer the car ran through all its gears. Of course it took a while for the computer to re-learn parameters. Now: my car hesitates when shifting from reverse to drive (3 mississippi seconds), slips or jolts when around bends shifting from 2-3, and delays in nuetral to 1st gear when making abrubt complete stops.
The shop says sounds like low ATF fluid but it was running perfectly fine before this incident. Something doesn't seem right. Any ideas or suggestions.
HEEEEEEEELP!!!!!

Mine has been doing some strange/similar things too. I don't think it's ever been rebuilt or even had the ATF changed.

First time it happened it stuck in third gear from a cold start. BMW told me how to reset the TCU. Second time it stuck in second after stopping at a light and again I had to reset it. Most recent time it again got stuck in second after exiting the freeway, but fixed itself after stopping and restarting the engine.

:dunno

One tech told me it could be computer related. I dread that thought. These problems seem more mechanical though. I've got GM to thank.

Yeah. I imagine if we had BMW transmissions it'd be comparable to something used in a tiger tank. :D

Probably soon I'll take her to have the codes read. If it is a computer problem, BMW will know. If not, i'll do a transmission service (new ATF, filters, gaskets, etc) and see if that fixes it.
