I know this probably makes for an unusual first post, but I'd be interested in talking to you about possibly buying your car, depending on its mechanical condition and price.

I've gradually been narrowing down my interests in a four door more and more, and an E34 feels like it strikes the right balance between performance, convenience, and luxury.

That it's not perfect or a show car is fine; I'd rather it not be frankly. That it runs and handles correctly is more important. Also, is your motor an Alusil or Nikasil motor?

Original Nikasil. I researched the heck out of this car when I bought it. I bought it in San Jose.

With the problem stemming from the fuel, you have to think that a new Nikasil engine used only with low sulfur fuel would present no problems now. I've put nearly 35,000 flawless miles on this car in over two years. Idle is smooth and no indication of being rough even after running in this 100 degree weather. Power is strong and I dont lose any oil. Seems this affected more of the V6s.

I believe I am the 4th owner but the first three owners were all related. Two Oracle Execs and their mechanic owned it.

The clutch was replaced by BimmerClinics in the valley - a very anal retentive mechanic whose shop floor you could eat off. He also replaced my engine mounts without my authorization. That is why I stopped going to him.

The rest of the work (except brakes) was done by the M Shop in Glendale / Eaglerock. Those guys know this car and have taken good care of it. I will continue to take my Mini there.

I've attacked and resolved all vibration issues starting with the front suspension and finally breaking down and doing all four brakes (with OEM Brembo rotors and new pads). My old rotors and pads had a ton of life left but they just were out of balance. I change the oil every 3-5000 miles with Mobil 1 10-50 (I think) Extended Performance oil.

Only one of the comfort seats is in the car and I did not wire the mirrors in cause frankly, I got tired of doing it. The sport seats are great if you are not as big as me. The drivers side sport seat has a twist issue but that is easy to fix. I actually took it out twisted badly cause I was going nuts trying to get it out.

I would sell it privately.. You won't get shit for it on trade in unless you luck out and someone actually knows what it is.

Thanks Norm (it is Norm, right?); that's encouraging, and I'm still interested.

I'm Eagle Rock/Glendale adjacent, so that's a plus, and having a reference for a reputable shop that knows the car and is close is even better.

If you decide you want to pursue converting what sounds like a little bit of a liability for you into cash, please PM or email me privately through the board and we can talk about it.

Cheers,
Pieter

The guys over at the M Shop rock. Its a hell of a way out from where I live. I work in downtown Los Angeles.

I am looking at my replacement vehicle now. Will probably buy it first then sell this thing.

Cool. Thanks again for the reference.

I'm actively looking for a car now, but if you decide to unload it, drop me a line and we'll see where I'm at.

Also, should you decide to jump, I actually live in Mt. Washington, so downtown is an easy five minutes away, and we have some great roads for test drives around here.
