Hi

I'm wandering if i can use M5(S38) pressureplate for in my E34 535i 5spd.

I cursed with the dreaded dual mass flywheel, but i'm going to get me one of those aftermarket light flywheels, from Turner motorsport or Ireland Engineering. I know i can use the clutch disk from a e34 M5, but can i use the pressure plate also? Or is the sachs performance pressure plate my only option?

Thanks.

Older E28 M30's use single mass flywheel and i know a lot of guys go with that option. see what kind of aftermarket flywheel/clutch combos there are for that application.

as for the M5....cant help ya

im not sure on the e34, but im doin a m30 swap on my e30 w a motor from a e23 735i...im going w a 533i single mass flywheel (its the lighest M30 flywheel), and the e28 M5 Sachs clutch kit...its like 399.00 while the reg e28 is like 320.00 so whats another 80 bucks right...

The M5 pressure plates and the dual-mass flywheel from an M30 do not work together. I have both and I can tell you they are different.

ok, then thats clear.

But what is the best flywheel-clutch setup to get, except getting the e28 setup.

I've been looking at the flywheel from Irland Engineering, and also from Turner Mortorsports. But a tuning guy that i know here in iceland says he should be able to get me a full kit from UUC.

I want to prepare well for the future, since i'm thinkin of getting a little more power from my M30. Turbo or SC, who knows.

The M5 flywheel is single mass and fairly lightweight. Try finding one of them. But its essentially the same as the E28 flywheel. I have a JB racing E28 flywheel with a Sach RAcing M5 clutch (full-face,organic). The engagement is very easy and smooth and the clutch isn't that heavy. This particular setup is good for well over 400hp/450tq at the engine. On my car, anytime I tried applying more power the clutch would give out. I'm in the process of replacing it with a stronger clutch so that I can see what this engine can really do. But this setup is great for a person looking to upgrade in the future. I'll sell you the clutch cheap, since its been used. It has about 2000 miles on it. Its probably slipped about 6-8 times. Then all you'd have to do is find a flywheel.
As for FI, you're best bet is a turbo because no one sell supercharger setups for the M30 (besides my prototype setup and a handful of custom jobs).
