I know, this subject has been discussed ad nauseum but I've searched
and can't find a specific answer. I recently added 17" style 66 wheels to
my 1995 525i M50. I am getting a bit of the dreaded shake; the wheels have been balanced twice and they are O.K. In addition,
I have the heavy duty bushings in the thrust arms.

My question is: Has anyone else here added these specific wheels and had the same problem? Also, is there a guide for the correct size hubcentric rings anywhere?

Thanks!

I am soon going to purchase some Style 66 rims for my 95 525i!

You definetely need some hub-centric rings for them since they are off an E39 that has a larger hub diametre.

Unfortunately I am unsure on where you can get them in the US; but definetely get them!

Check ebay. There are some metal hub rings you can get off of there for about $16.

call tire rack.. ask for part A670.. tell them you are putting them on a e34.. they'll know what you're talking about. they're about $3 each

Be sure to request the metal ones.. the plastic ones will work, but I've found the metal ones to last a little longer.

for reference.... your wheels have a bore of 74.1mm (or 74mm i forget) and you have a 72.5mm hub.

Thanks for the info. I already have the metal rings but am not sure they are correct becuase I still have a bit of shaking around 55-60 mph.

I got the from a local tire/wheel dealer who is supposedly good with wheels.
However, these are the same folks who air-wrenched my left front wheel
down to nearly 400 ft/lbs!!! Lucky I caught it the next day and no damage to wheel, rotor, etc.

If you go with TireRack, make sure to demand the metal ones, as ordering A670 got me a set of plastic Borbet rings. Going the Tire Rack route, you can also hop over to Roadfly's (www.roadfly.org) wheel and tire board, and post a message for Jim at Tire Rack.

Discount Tire Direct has metal rings, but you'll need to order by size (74.1mm outer, 72.5mm inner).
