Hmm an E34 M5 driven by a kid, not good. I know who the owner is, and I would pass.

That would be good to know, if I was looking to buy. As I am just looking, it isn't too hard on the eye. Is the shifter surround a standard item or aftermarket?

Its OEM BMW, but its not standard 3.8 M5 fare. It is an E39 shift knob and mis-matched boot. The boot should be the same color as the rest of the interior, and yeah Im aware of BMW Individual where you could have a humidor installed in your headliner if you wanted to, but that is not the stock color for thi car.

I like it, but personally don't like the Euro light grey interior.

I like the interior... resprayed and owned by a kid? Total BS ebay listing huh since he states he has been going to the same mechanic for 9 years and doesn't hint at a respray.

The um.. "mods" to this car do not suggest proper M5 pedigree. Ugly wheels, steering wheel, shift and brake levers. booooo!

I emailed the seller about the paint...

Yes, this is the original paint and of course the original color
("fjordgrau" is the official name...Fjord Grey in English)...this color was
mostly offered only on 850CSIs, however there were a handful of M5s with
this paint as well...I've only ever seen one other (attached pic).

Now I'm asking him how old he is.

Who said it had a respray? You came up with that one on your own. The shift boot is not in the stock color for that interior. How does a shifter surround become a body respray?

Anyways, this car has been listed for a long time on roadfly:

http://www.roadfly.com/bmw/classifieds/cars/detview.php?view=40126&sortby=&dir=

This is a new ad, the other ad featured a shot of the car in downtown Denver.

His other BMW in the past was a white E28 with the same "roadhed" plate. As for age, my guess is early-mid twenties. Last time I saw the white BMW it featured a LHS - Littleton High School - sticker.

As for rarity of Fjordgrau, there were 14 of 891 M5 Tourings painted in Fjordgrau. That is a small number, but there were fewer Alpine White M5Ts, to show a comparison. There are several Fjordgrau M5 saloons on m5board.com

misunderstood one of your earlier posts... when you said it wasn't original color for this car I thought you were referring to the exterior color.

Well it is the internet and communication is easily garbled, most likely caused by muah.

Anyways, the Fjordgrau is a stock exterior color for 3.8s. This one looks to be in good condition as seller describes it, though the lighting is not optimal to show off the depth of color Fjordgrau has.

I wouldn't stay away from a car based on the age of the owner. I would however get a PPI done just to be sure.

Young owners are enthusiasts too :)

Whatever weight you give a certain age of a car owner is, of course, up to you. The younger owners on this forum demonstrate a rather broad range of automotive knowledge and wrenching ability.
