Control warning messages not working

I get various warning messages but key in ignition and lights only come on like 2% of the time.
I am thinking something to do with ignition key switch that needs cleaning?

Do you have other messages that are always displayed nor displayed most of the time?

Other messages such as door ajar, coolant level, truck-lid etc. work as they should.

About 2 out of 100 times the lights are on or key in ignition works properly. I check it ever time I am driving at night by shutting off the engine and opening the door, before turning off the lights or removing the key.

You are aware that the Check Control system has warnings based on Priority 1,2, or 3, right? And the CCD (check control display) will store multiple warning and indicate their presence with a + symbol in the upper right of the display. To pull them up...press the CCD button on the instr cluster (the one on the right).

Any priority 1 warning will take precedence over the other warnings...and also will appear immediatley. Priority 2 warning appear when the ignition is in position 2 ...oh why am I typing this when it's already written in the owners manual...here ya go...check to see if some of the reasons are because of various Priority Warnings you may have in the CCD (check control display)...

Check your own owners manual in case there are some slight differences...these pages are from an old e34 and yours may have some slight modifications and/or Priority warnings.

Sorry I wasn't clear....

I have no warning messages at the present time. When I do get a warning, it operates as it should with 2 exceptions.

If the key is left in the ignition or the lights are left on, only about 1 or 2% of the time will I get a message. It seems that both the key and light message are syncronistic in that they will either work or not work together.
