Yes, you are correct.
At the time I was under the impression that there might be something wrong with it and swapped it out of my car prematurely on a very bad recommendation. I offered it up for $600 with the warning that I didn't know if it was in perfect shape. The problem with my car wasn't the motor but a combination of different things. I know this because when I replaced the engine it didn't fix my problems. It was behaving exactly the same. I replaced an engine that didn't need to be replaced. I found out the problems to be...a couple of the ignition coils were faulty they caused the caty converters to get clogged up. I noticed this when smoke started coming through the seats into the car while taking a test drive after the engine swap. The heated exhaust system fried the O2 sensors which in turn confused the DME which in turn confused the fuel sending unit. The car was pushing too rich a mixture and causing the engine to miss but only when you really put it to the metal. Now I have a perfectly good engine with the Alusil block that only has 32,000 miles on it sitting on the floor of my shop. I'd put it back in my car but the engine I'm using now is a 50K Alusil. And I finally got it running good after replacing the entire engine, exhaust, Fuel Pump/sending unit, DME, Coils, Alternator, Water Pump, P/S Pump, Manifolds, A/C Compressor, Starter, Plugs, Intake/Plate/Throttle Body/Air flow meter/Boot all the associated gaskets and crap. It's too much work. I'm getting ready to sell the whole car. Anyway, the motor wasn't to fault and this motor is worth a lot more than $600. So logically I'd raise the price to a more realistic one. And Just to show that this is all in good faith I will offer up a 30-day money back guarentee with it. I'm confident that this engine is good. It passed both the idle quality and pressure distribution test preformed by BMW of Nashville just before I dismantled it. I have the paper work to prove it.
Anyway, the answer to your question is Yes, it is the same engine I was selling a couple weeks back for like $600. Too bad nobody bought it then.

haha. still a good deal with that mileage (if its true). I remember your thread and wondering why a alusil would fail.. so I'm glad it didnt cause I just got an alusil. :stickoutt somebody pic this badboy up! honestly dont think i would buy a used engine without warranty anyways but somebody who can work with engines will take it.

A 2000 block too, not bad. Seems like a good price for that, considering all that comes with it and the mileage. Still has the plastic t-stat housing, blah :)

I paid $2K for mine with 65K on it. So that's a Good deal!
How much of a job at a good Bimmer Indy shop is swapping an M60? Mine has a Lower driver's side Timing Chain Cover leak that i was quoted $4,500.00 to fix though that would also refurbish/replace most everything in front of that which you go thru, remove or disturb getting at the leak. My engine while being an Alusil block is about to flip 180,000 i would be in heaven if my 540 were born again...
Never Mind i read the 32,000 miles is SINCE the short block swap AT 98,000 that's not much better than what i have after all.False alarm.
