I'm selling my beloved 1995 dakar yellow m3 coupe (5 speed) that I've slowly modified over the years (2000) into a track car/weekend car. I'm close to my finishing up grad school and don't have time to enjoy this car anymore. I'm the second owner and bought it at 60k miles in Atlanta, GA. Everything in the car works (a/c, doors, sunroof, mirrors, blinkers, etc) and it's streetable. However, it's ready to go as a track car. It's very neutral handling and it's been blessed/tweaked by the head driving instructor last year who borrowed it for DE at Barber.

Specs/upgrades car:

147,xxx miles
5 speed
24 lb injectors
3.5 Euro HFM
K&N cone filter w/ CAI shield (you get a spare filter so that you can swap w/o waiting for the other one to dry)
Custom Turner chip for this setup
3.5 SAMCO (blue) style throttle elbow (just installed this year)
UUC Underdrive pulleys
OBDII headers with sims deleted.
Supersprint resonator with jet coat (cat delete)
B&B Tri flo DTM exhaust (race version and semi-loud)
Eibach sway bars with adj links
X-brace
LTW flywheel (10lbs)
Stainless steel brake lines
H&R Coilovers ~ 20k miles on it
Short shift kit (UCC style)
VDO guages (oil temp, oil pressure, voltage) in the sunglass holder
custom welded rear shock mount plates...will never break on the track or on the roads (email me for pictures which will explain alot more..essentially my mechanic welded thick steel plates to both towers)
adjustable rear camber arm
powerflex RTAB bushings
Kirk Racing Roll bar
6 point harness (driver has camlock while passenger harness isn't the quick release type)
Cross drilled rotors (front and back)
3.23 rear end with a custom carrier bolt so that it won't move.
wheel studs instead of bolts on all 4 wheels
JTD underbody panel instead of the crappy plastic pieces
4 Motorsport rims (I'm keeping the mille miglia as a spare set)

Electronics/Looks upgrade:

Clear corners
euro rear taillights
Euro ellipsoids (passenger side has CCFL angel eyes installed but not wired up)
Fog light has stone guard film over it to prevent rock damage
Custom 3M tint (legal in GA and AL)
Viper Alarm system (two remotes)
yellow instrument cluster background
stainless steel shift and brake pedals ( I have the gas one but had a hard time installing it, will be included)

Audio:
ECLIPSE 8540 Head unit along with the a/d/s P840 eight channel amp,
a/d/s 235is front speakers and Elemetal Designs 8inch midbass subs (rear deck). HU is mp3 ready with a mini jack to connect to whatever mp3 player's headphone output.
If you want these audio items, then make me an offer and I'll leave it in the car otherwise, it's coming out.
I'm keeping the front euro license plate too (you keep the license frame holder)

Track & Driving history:
I bought the car in 2000 and it was mostly city/highway driving in Atlanta(2000-2003) and in Dothan (2003-2004).
Never raced anyone on the street. Then after moving up to Birmingham in 2005, I got intertested in tracking the car.
So this car has seen two DE at BarberMotorsport (2006-7). Other than that, it's never been abuse on purpose than those two events. In the past year summer (06), it's been sitting around and get driven on the weekends since I had a daily driver last summer. This year, it got to see action at Barber and few weekends this spring. Otherwise, it's sitting at home begging to be taken out for a nice curvy windy road.
The car has been dynoed w/o the 24 lb injectors or SAMCO elbow at 228 RWHP. I have the sheets from 2005.

Maintainence History:

Water pump and radiator replaced at 60k
engine gasket seal replaced at 2003
brake flush every two years
radiator flushed last year
fuel filters replace at 90k along with oxygen sensor
spark plugs replaced with NGK at 90k
Clutch replaced at 100k
brand new brake pads before Barber DE 2007
Rear diff fluilds replaced before Barber DE 2007
Oil change right before Barber DE 2007
H&R coil over replaced at ~120k
I have all receipts from all maintainence items.
I change my own oil (Mobil One) and brakes though.
Ask Munichsport for other history since they're the only ones allowed to touch my car since I've moved up here to Bham in 2005.

Comestics flaws and defects:
Hood has a few nicks and chips.
Paint is faded in certain areas, especially the clear coat has flaked off around the A pillars.
Trunk has holes from where I removed the spoiler...thinking that I was going to put MA Shaw adjustable wing on it. (see pix)
Interior black panel is ok. The driver side door panel has some visible glue at the seams (see pix).
I removed the black panel under the sunroof since it wasn't working. Sunroof works but the part that diverts the rain isn't installed thus you'll have to close the sunroof during the rain. (see pix)
Missing the driver and passenger side rear light cover (see pix)
Driver Vader seats show signs of age. Some of the leather stitching has come off in certain areas.
Passenger Vader are fine.
Rear seats are fine.
Glove box door doesn't shut perfectly.
Don't expect a cosmetically perfect M3. This isn't it. Go elsewhere.
Do EXPECT an AWESOME running E36 M3 that handles incredibly well.

Car fax History (one vehicle accidents only...no mechanical damage...just cosmetics):
2000 - I went off the icy road in ATL. I received a new front & rear bumper and two new rims.
2002 - same thing in ATL but after the someone dump oil in the I-75 on ramp and it just rained. New front bumper and side skirts.
2004 - Living in Dothan, AL...my ex girlfriend hit an armadillo. New front bumper by the insurance company.
2006 - Hurrican Katrina - leaving school to come back home, spun out and rear end hit the curb. New rear bumper and two new rims.

Yes, they were taken last month at Barber.
I wish I had time to enjoy the car more.
I've got to start reviewing for the patent exam and then bar exam.

I think I saw the car. I was up there with the Z06s parked in the lot above you picking up some parts with a friend.

Good luck on the bar.

Yes, I was the slow one on the track in "D" group...getting passed by ZO6s, Cobalt, 300ZX...and forget those people that say "You'll get them in the twisties". Those guys in non bmws car can friggin drive. Much respect to the driver more than the car. I was "stealing" a part from Tim Nagy(instructor)'s porsche car. :D

Thanks for the confidence in the bar, I'll need it.
My buddy/old roommie/frat bro is taking GA bar soon. He just graduated from UGA law school this past May. Dude made a 90% on his LSAT with just 1 week of studying. I'm sure he'll have no problem passing the bar and his patent exam.

:cool We were up their as a guest of Craig who I believe was an instructor and hitched a ride in his friend's Black Z06 out of Pensacola. The guy in the Crown Vic or Grand Marquis was nuts

That is crazy on the LSAT. The friend I went to Barber with that was buying the parts tried the LSAT but is one of those people that just doesn't test well.

I know VR from another board. I'll be sure to bug him for you. :) I'm still atleast 6 months off from getting a track toy if I'm lucky.

Can you take pics after washing the car?

Everyone that posts their picture to sell their car always does it after a car wash. The outside is shiny and their engine compartment is nice and clean.

I doubt if a car wash is going to help this car to stand out. A professional buff and wax will definitely help...better yet a new paint job.

Yes, I'll wash, wax, clean the engine bay this weekend. However, I don't want to mislead anyone into thinking that this is a cosmetically near perfect m3.
It's not. It's not even close to a 7 out of 10. From a distance, it turns head but when you get closer like 2-3 feet you'll notice some chips and scratches in the hood and other spots. (I had hope to get a CF hood and CF trunk to replace it). I actually saw Dakar Yellow trunk lid on ebay for 150. I thought about just slapping that on here instead if I didn't get a new high LTW spoiler.

Yes, I'd like to sell it but I'm going to be honest with the buyer and not going to sugarcoat anything to make this car out as a pristine M3. I'll probably won't make it as a car salesmen or other types who puff the item to make a sale.
However, would it help if I had some Hooter hotties drape over the car?
:D

Any requests for angle pictures after the wash?

I'll be in Atlanta on July 14th weekend hanging out with my parents. I'll bring the car then if someone wish to take it out for a spin. (assuming that it's not sold by then)

How much for it stock?

How much for it stock?

KBB median price for bone stock 1995 m3 with my mileage is $6925 (good condition).
excellent is $7590.

It's too much of a hassle for me to convert it back to stock completely. Plus, no one buys stock m3 anymore. :(
The most I'm willing to do is take the roll bar, 6 pt harnesses out.
To answer your question, "What's the absolute min value that would I sell the car w/o the above parts ?"
Probably $7k if I was desperate. I'm not in a rush.

All the upgrades part over the year, you probably know the $$ figures so I'm not even go to waste your time.

Most people are selling lightly modded 95 m3 (pristine condition) for $12-$13k range. The only thing I don't have as the N/A ultimate mod list are CAMS and SS headers.

Again, this isn't a pristine m3. It's meant to be driven. If you wish to negotiate prices then email me at "mcbk1452@hotmail.com" or call.

I'm currently seeking to possibly get another M3 and have some questions about yours (if it's still available). I also viewed your complete and entire photo album as well (to get a better idea of the overall condition of the vehicle).

1) do you still have the interior sunroof panel you had removed and any associated parts (and how easy/hard is it to reinstall and/or fix properly)?

2) do you still have the original front corner marker lights and rear tails?

3) with ANY of the minor accidents you noted in your original thread above, did any of those hits damage any other parts behind, near or around the front & rear bumper covers? How is the radiator supprt, any damages to it since the car has experienced a few frontal impacts? Was there any sheet metal damages to any of the front or rear fenders or 1/4's (and if so, was ANY Bondo used)? What about each time the rims made contact with whatever object they hit - any structural damages to control arms, front or rear frame parts? Does the car retain all of the factory VIN labels on all other body panels (except for front and rear bumper covers)?

4) how is the VANOS system - any rattle noises at cold idle, at hot idle, while driving or at WOT?

5) what engine gasket seal was replaced - was it the head gasket, timing cover gasket, valve cover gasket or other? Your remark about this gasket seal replacement was not too clear.

6) how long has the rear spoiler been off the trunk lid - and since it has been off, has the trunk been taking on any water seeping into the open holes left in the lid? Is there any rust/mold in the trunk? Do you still retain the original spoiler and/or mounting hardware?

7) since it has seen limited track useage - how hard was it run at the track? Have you ever addressed the common oil pump nut issue?

8) how is the drivetrain - trans, etc? Any gear grinding or issues w/ trans or clutch system?

9) have you retained any maintenance receipts or receipts for parts added/replaced since you have owned the vehicle?

10) do you know if the retainers have been updated or are they the original retainers (what is the build date on this 95)?

11) is the "yellow" on the gauge face an overlay and if so, can it be removed to return the cluster back to stock? If it's not an overlay, do you still have the original cluster "face"?

12) do you have the missing inner door sill plates (these are roughly 4ft sections that cover the edges of the carpet near the driver & pass. rocker panel)?

13) does the engine, trans or rear leak/seep any fluids?

14) do you think it would pass state inspection w/ the current exhaust setup (ie: does the car run clean)?

15) does the A/C & heat work without issues?

Sorry for so many questions, just trying to get more info and clarification on a few things as you had noted in your ad since I'm not local to your area.

Just curious too - how much for the car as it sits, without you removing anything from it? I know your current price reflects audio system and roll bar removal...

back ttt for a sensibly modded Dakar!

YES I have the black panel. As far as I recall I had to remove the rails and some bent tabs...almost like an E46 sunroof pieces. I think I would just have to go to the dealer and by the tabs pieces which wouldn't cost more than ~$40 (Which I had to fix also on mine)

2) do you still have the original front corner marker lights and rear tails?
Only rear OEM...not fronts.

ALL VINS matched. No metal parts were replaced from my accidents. Only, plastic pieces (skirts, bumpers) were replaced. All FRAME, steel pieces, etc are intact and are structural safe. Otherwise, I wouldn't track this car if I felt that it was going to fall a part.

4) how is the VANOS system - any rattle noises at cold idle, at hot idle, while driving or at WOT?
No rattle. Winter time, sometimes during startup, when the oil hasn't circulated up top, you can here ticking but it goes away. Not a problem at other times. I should have probably use a different oil weight in the winter than summer.

5) what engine gasket seal was replaced - was it the head gasket, timing cover gasket, valve cover gasket or other? Your remark about this gasket seal replacement was not too clear.
VALVE COVER GASKET only...it was leaking oil. Nothing else is leaking. I can take close up photo of this for you. (Sometimes not everyone is detailed as others..I don't mind).

6) how long has the rear spoiler been off the trunk lid - and since it has been off, has the trunk been taking on any water seeping into the open holes left in the lid? Is there any rust/mold in the trunk? Do you still retain the original spoiler and/or mounting hardware?
Yes, sometimes water gets into the holes but drains out. I haven't noticed any rust since I cover the car when it's parked at the house. However, if I'm driving around and it rains..I can't do anything about that.
I don't have the original spoiler. I was debating on buying a pristine used dakar yellow trunk on ebay for 250 to replace it if I was going to turn the car back into "stock"...my buyer group that I was targeting were weekend/track peoples. however, if I wasn't getting any interest on this "track" car then I was going to convert it back to "stock"..including a cosmetically perfect trunk deck without any holes.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=012&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=220051534094&rd=1,1

7) since it has seen limited track useage - how hard was it run at the track? Have you ever addressed the common oil pump nut issue?
I was in the novice group...so I didn't run it hard since it was my first time on the track driving the car.
I not familiar with the oil pump nut issue. I'll ask my mechanic.

8) how is the drivetrain - trans, etc? Any gear grinding or issues w/ trans or clutch system?
No problem shifting..no grinding noise. Tranny is in great shape.

9) have you retained any maintenance receipts or receipts for parts added/replaced since you have owned the vehicle?
Yes. However some were purchased via Ebay so there won't be any receipt. However, I keep a log of what/when things were replaced. If you need receipts to figure out what's next to replaced/maintained then my spread sheet should suffice...hopefully.

10) do you know if the retainers have been updated or are they the original retainers (what is the build date on this 95)?
That's my next project was to replace the valve retainers, keepers, springs, upgrade Schrick cams in few years or 20k more miles. It's still got ~40k more miles left under normal conditions. I suspect if you are going to track it exclusively then probably need to do this "upgrade" next on the engine.

11) is the "yellow" on the gauge face an overlay and if so, can it be removed to return the cluster back to stock? If it's not an overlay, do you still have the original cluster "face"?
Sorry, I can't locate the original gauge and from what I recall, it was easy to remove.

12) do you have the missing inner door sill plates (these are roughly 4ft sections that cover the edges of the carpet near the driver & pass. rocker panel)?
YES..sorry forgot to mention that..the small white clips were a pain in the ass thus I didn't have time to put the driver side sill back on.

13) does the engine, trans or rear leak/seep any fluids?
NO. Was checked before May's DE school.

14) do you think it would pass state inspection w/ the current exhaust setup (ie: does the car run clean)?
There's no emission requirement in ALABAMA. Before I moved from Atlanta to Alabama, the car passed emission inspection but I had cats and REMUS exhaust.
I couldn't say or tell whether the car is running rich or lean at this point. I don't notice any difference with my nose and others either. However, this is not a good metric to indicate if this will allow it to pass inspection.
I'm sorry but I have no clue.

15) does the A/C & heat work without issues?
No issues with A/C and heater. I forgot that the coolant sensor flakes out every now and then and you'll see "CHECK COOLANT LEVEL" on the OBC.

Sorry for so many questions, just trying to get more info and clarification on a few things as you had noted in your ad since I'm not local to your area.

Just curious too - how much for the car as it sits, without you removing anything from it? I know your current price reflects audio system and roll bar removal...
I probably would let everything go (except the real euro plate - i have a euro plate size that says "bmw m3", misc OEM stuff) for $7500.
If you want the extra rims(which ever one you decide not to keep)...I may throw that in for ~300.
Mille migilia has 90% tread on FALKENs (can't remember model/style)
Motorsport rims has Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 (fronts has 70%, rears have 60%)

back ttt for a sensibly modded Dakar!

Please don't hesitate to ask more questions (or reiterate the same question) or ask me to take more pictures because I'm in the middle of training while I'm answering this post. So I may not be totally coherent while I'm trying to pay attention to this instructor...lol.

I've got finals coming in up two weeks and would have more time to pay attention to the car (washing, put the door sills back in..etc etc) after that ordeal is done.
