I was told that I need to change my battery on my E34 525I. I was told that I need a battery with 650 amps on it, I was in Costco this pm and picked one up. I'm not sure it's a perfect fit for the OEM slot under the seat but has the same amperage. Bavarian Autosport said that it might work, have some of you guys tried this??? Any info will be appreciated. Also how do I take the rear seat apart???

The rear seat pops up from the front. There are two spring-clips that hold it in. They're about 1/3rd and 2/3rds the way across the seat. They can be a pain to pop loose if you haven't done it before.

When you put the seat back in, I can always get one to pop in, but I usually line up the other and just sit on it. I don't think it likes me much...

You probably would have been best off to pop off the rear seat and measure the stock battery and retainer, so you could compare before you buy. 650 CCA is okay, but more is almost always better, especially if you live where there are cold winters :)

Your battery should also have post terminals (as opposed to front terminals, those can be a nuisance), so make sure the replacement has posts as well. If the pos/neg are on the wrong sides, that might be a pain as well, but I think there's enough cable to reach back a little further if you have to.

I don't think there's much else I can say about batteries in the E34... Except that you might want to smear some grease on the terminals and clamps after the battery is in. This will prevent corrosion. Make sure everything is clean when you clamp the terminals on.

Good luck!!

Thanks abakos for your information.....I will try the battery I purchased and see what happens. I think it'll be alright just want to make sure before I get my hands dirty. Thanks again.
