Anyone tried or knows anything about them?
I washed and oiled my K&N cone the other night and found several holes in the mesh pleats.
So I was desperate to replace and none of the local stores carry the one I wanted.
I put this on tonight and ran a few errands. Seems ok, but I didn't get it on the fwy. Sounds not much different than the Cosmos intake I took off.
It's too big to fit anywhere, but the engine bay therefore will likely have to go with a heatshield.
I will test tomorrow on the way to work.
$25 seems reasonably cost effective for 100K or 10 year warranty.
My K&N was barely 3 years old.

I actually had the exact same problem w/ not being able to find a K&N and bought this spectre thing you speak of :D

sounds the same. My gas mileage went up too. But my old filter was SHOT

Encouraging. Did you mount directly to the HFM?

Nope.

*edit*

I'll also admit that I felt kinda of sleezy buying it and then putting it on my car 'cause it was in the "ricer" section of Autozone :(
I justified it knowing I opened every single K&N filter within a few square miles looking for one that fits.

Well, ricer looking or not, it has metal mesh covering and appears very similar in construction to the K&N with no "holes".
The adjustability for 3"-4" mounting is a plus.

I'd put a trusted filter on the car.

I'm not disagreeing with you. I just felt cheesy :)

So far, pretty well.
Only thing that bothers me is the outside looks really clean, however, I have it mounted as high as possible straight off the HFM and used the Cosmos
brace to secure it.
Works as well as the dirt sucking bumper CAI.

Try one of these. I love mine. No oiling, great filtration and very high quality.
