They just won't depreciate! I am starting to regret not buying one 4 years ago, even though there was no way I could afford it (dealership wouldnt' deal, of course). I am throwing around the idea of getting one as a college car, but my Lord.
Had I got one 4 years ago, I would be a year away from paying it off. So I would owe about 6,000 on it. Now, it would have 100,000 miles on it, but I could probably turn around and sell it in CA for at least 15,000 based on what I'm seeing on autotrader.
That's just crazy! Profitting off of a depreciating asset, whodathunk!
There is a beatup 04 MC w/ 35,000 on the clock at the dealership and they are asking 19,000! That's what a new one is supposed to start at! I asked the sales guy how they expect anyone to pay that when you can buy a brand spankin' new one for just a few grand more. He told me that because they are more flexible on the used cars they actually sell better than the new ones!
I am just floored by the popularity of these cars. Everyone of you are geniuses for buying one!
