They just won't depreciate! I am starting to regret not buying one 4 years ago, even though there was no way I could afford it (dealership wouldnt' deal, of course). I am throwing around the idea of getting one as a college car, but my Lord.

Had I got one 4 years ago, I would be a year away from paying it off. So I would owe about 6,000 on it. Now, it would have 100,000 miles on it, but I could probably turn around and sell it in CA for at least 15,000 based on what I'm seeing on autotrader.

That's just crazy! Profitting off of a depreciating asset, whodathunk!

There is a beatup 04 MC w/ 35,000 on the clock at the dealership and they are asking 19,000! That's what a new one is supposed to start at! I asked the sales guy how they expect anyone to pay that when you can buy a brand spankin' new one for just a few grand more. He told me that because they are more flexible on the used cars they actually sell better than the new ones!

I am just floored by the popularity of these cars. Everyone of you are geniuses for buying one!

Thanks!

I know on my wife's 2005 the value jumped quite a bit a few days after we got it. 2005 was the last year for Solar Yellow, free upgrade to metallic paint, and they just announced details on the 2007 models. We paid just over $24k for it in August 2005, now with almost 35k miles on it, we can get an easy $22k back.

i've had a few friends sell mini's pretty cheap around here (gettysburg). Perhaps the demand isn't that high but both had S models and sold them for under 15k w/ low mileage. I guess it depends on where you are.

My dad had an 2004 Electric Blue Mini Cooper S brand new from the dealership and sold it about a year later for almost the same price he bought it for.....
