The E32's have a lamp built into the rear doors located on the bottom corners on the hinges side. I always liked these lamps in my daughters E32 and came across some at the JY today.
It looks like with a little trimming on the door panel corner they can go on our cars. Has anyone installed them on their E34's?
I just picked up 2 rear map lights from an E32 as well and they fit & look great. Nice lil upgrade!
Thanx

Earl,
There's 2-735's and a 750 at Acorn on 34th near 290, as well as several E34's. There's still a lot of parts depending on what you need.
If you go maybe I'll meet up with you there?

Earl,
I work close to there too,Long Point & Hempstead. There's a red & a white E34 as well as a green touring. I don't recollect the interior colors, but the touring is Dove gray and I beleive another green E34 w/tan interior.

Yes, it's called "Acorn". The red E34 had good body parts but very faded.

I was just looking for those e32 cpillar courtesy/reading lamps the other day...
If you don't mind me asking, what did your junker's charge you for them?

I got them for $10. They were missing the round lens but I popped them off a 735 that had a brown housing so their complete, my housings are gray.
$20 for 2 would be a reasonable offer,but try $10 1st.Ya never know.
I just tried to put them in but the plugs are different, but the right wires are there to splice, but at another forum people attached them w/o splicing, so I'm going to look into that before I start cutting wires.
Other than that it's a perfect fit and they look SOOO much better.

NObody ever answered this question, and this photo made me want to do it again:

Every once in a while I want to buy an e32, then I remember it's pretty much just a bigger, heavier e32. But I'd love to have those door lights, with a little one in the backseat we're regularly losing stuff on the floors.
So Fred or anybody else, have you done it? I'm sure it COULD be done, but I'm hoping it's relatively easy.
Thanks,
Ian

You would need to rewire the doors and run triggers from the rear power distribution box (or dome light -- PDB is easier) to each door, then figure out how to adapt the light into the door panel. The door jamb connectors are different between E32/E34, but from what I remember, there's room to wire it in the E34 connector.
I thought about doing this when I rewired my 535 for memory, but opted against it. I decided I'd rather do the late E38 style lighted exterior door handles, just haven't gotten around to engineering it.

green touring? what does the rear end look like. Do you think it could be a candidate for this? Heated seats?

I've been thinking of adding some ambar leds under the door side armrests... Very dim ones.

I LUV :luvlove using LEDs for interior lighting. I added them for floor lights in my other car as it didn't have any at all. Matter of fact changed all the lights on the car to LED except the headlights themselves. Instrument cluster, HVAC, turn signals, tail lights, parking lights and dome light. Pretty cool. Don't think I'll do it to the classic good looks of my E34 though.

Nah, that's too much.
I'm talking about one ambar led on each armrest... very dim and wide.
very different from the "OMG LETZ PUTZ ZOME BLUE LEDZ FOR BLIDNING PPPOPLE LOLZ MY CARZ IZ THE NIGHT CLUBZ!"
not even a floor light.
