So, I made a mistake, and accidentally drove over a curb coming out of a gas station the other day. I heard a scrape, and thought, oh crap. Well come to find out, I popped off the right hand side of the rear bumper cover. I tried pushing it back on, and it went, but it isn't holding on very tight. How do these properly reattach? Is it just supposed to click? Did I break something?

There is a screw in the corner of the bumper that goes into the rear quarter panel.

Is this accessed by taking off the trim? Or is it from inside the wheel well?

Inside the wheel wheel. You do not have to take the tire off to get to it.

I saw no screw with which to hold on the bumper... I couldn't figure out how it is supposed to attach, other than pressure, for the very front most part of it. Am I supposed to remove the inner lining of the wheel well, or do I not need to? thanks for your help so far...

Let me go check the E34. It has been almost 3 years since I messed with that, but that is what I remember, lol.

Here area couple pics I took just now. The screw is straight up even though the hole is pointing at an angle. Pardon the dirty car :)

Does your car even have those holes?? If not, they are behind the bumper where the hole is on my car.

hmm... I can't seem to see any where that the screw would go into... and no, I have no holes on either side. The drivers side is still attached well, and feels like it is grabbing in the middle somewhere, but on the passenger side, where it came off, it won't grab in the middle. thanks for tryin to help.

Take the trim off and see if there is a mounting point under it. I do not get why BMW would change it in one year.
EDIT:
Check the tabs that are on the side to see if they are broken.

Underneath the trim, in sorta the center is a big thing that looks like it could be turned with a flathead scredriver. I am going to assume that this is what is attaching the cover to the body. I didn't bother to take stuff apart to find out, because it is dark now here, and the car is outside. I'll look at it tomorrow or later this week, but for now, I think I'm gonna need a new bumper cover... this sucks. Which tabs?

The tabs are part of the bumper. Look at the third pic.

hmm... as far as I recall, there was only one big tab that I could see, but the bumper isn't super loose, so I could only pull it out so far. I'll do more investigation in the days to come, and let you know what I find out. Thanks again.
