Ok guys... My suspension is shot. I need new struts and springs all around, so right now I'm planning on going with eibach and koni from shox.com. Also, I have the 55 mph shimmy. I wanna replace all the parts I need to while I'm in there, but I am not on an unlimited budget. Other than the thrust arms, and the springs and shocks, what else do I need to do this? Where should I get the parts? New shock mounts? New control arms? Car has 190kmi on it btw, and I'm not sure when the last time any of this stuff was changed. TIA

You'll want to change the upper and lower control arms (750i or M5 bushings), tie rods, idler arm, centerlink, sway bar links, new shock mounts, spring pads (ask for the 3mm ones). I think that's it.

I'd order from BMA. Make sure to get Lemforder parts. Free shipping for orders over $50. Call and ask to speak with Pat if you have any questions or don't see the part listed on their website.

your may also need the thrust arms, tierod ends, stabilizer links, dogbones, idler arm, pitman arm, & center link.

I'd change the spring pads and get the M5 3mm for the front.

If you're on an limited budget.. definitely do the thrust arms (and other necessary parts to correct shimmy)... and the shocks. The lowering springs are a want.. not necessity.

the koni's, although our roads aren't the best they barely lasted 6 months and i don't abuse the car. so it will be bilstein anymore for me

But I'm almost certain my springs are shot, so isn't it cheaper to get after market lowering springs than to replace with oem? Also, what parts are necessary (usually) to correct the shimmy other than the thrust arms, loaded with 750 bushings? How much am I looking at spending here, not including shocks and springs? thanks

Fill your shopping cart online, then call and see what kind of deal they will give you.

Patrick matched Tirerack's price on the eibachs for me.

Springs dont really go bad. I mean, they kinda do, but your springs should be just fine. Id throw some Billy HDs on it, buy new upper and lower control arms and call it a day. Everyone always does all the aftermarket stuff when things wear out, but the factory stuff when its fresh can really suprise you.

Some people say that Billie sports are bad, that you have to get rid of the bump stops, etc.

And then I hear that Konis last like 20k miles. WTF?

Anyone have anything to say about this?

I've got Billy HDs and Sports and I like both of them. The sports are def better with lowering springs, but I am happy with both. The HDs are bolted to Bav Auto Springs so they obviously bottom out but Im afraid all the other shocks would too.

Hmmm...I'd be doing H&R Sport springs. Just trying to figure out what shocks. Main thing is that I don't want to be back in there in 30k replacing $500 shocks.

didn't even last 20k miles more like 20k km's absolute shit imo and they were installed correctly and were not set on hard but medium to soft setting. 400 euro a pair they cost me thats about 540 USD for a pair or 1080USD for 4.

you seem to have the worst of luck with your shocks. i have bilstein sports going 50k+ with fk springs.

well, I placed the orders today from BMA and Shox.com. I ordered new lower and upper control arms, with 750 bushings, along with new strut and shock mounts from BMA and the koni-eibach kit from Shox.com. I spoke with Yves (pronounced eve) from BMA and he was very helpful. All told it was about $550 from BMA and $800 from Shox... yikes... I guess I'll have to work extra hard...hehe
