Yup, boring subject!
What do you folks use for a key chain with these new keys? I bought one of the "U" shaped ones for the new key and it keeps coming open. Its driving me nuts. Incase you don't know, standard ring styles key chains don't work, atleast for me, on the new keys. Worst engineered part of this car!
FWIW, The car is great. It has the SAT raidio now. It runs super and is actually fun to drive now! I guess there was a programming issue before that was killing the throttle response.
So, on we go........

i cant stand having stuff bouncing against my leg as im driving, so i dont use one. i have no other keys that get carried around with me, so i suppose i have no use for a ring either.

I have this key chain. It makes a nice statement when laid out on a table and it looks great in in ignition haha. Also I had the same problem with it coming lose so I pressed the u shaped ends a bit closer together so it doesn't have room to move it it's clasp. I hope it works for you too man.

Okay lets try again. The ring type do not work well with the new remote/key style. The kind you stick in the dash and push the start/stop button. I have tried the "7" U shaped one above but even with pushing the tips closer together I still seem to have a problem with it coming apart. The only true key on it is the house key so its not like its heavy or anything.

Item 2 fits into item 1 in this diagram. The key chain goes into the slot in the top of item 2. The width and size of this slot, along with a slight curve, make it very difficult to use a standard ring key chain. Now, if item #8 has a screw and not a clasp, this might be the ticket. I am going to the dealer today to see if they have one!

It is so ridiculously stupid how small they made the *@%$# hole in the key!! I just have it on one of those little wire rings they put on with a tag at the dealer, with that attached to a normal keyring. :\

I'm thinking of putting mine in the drill press and making an "adjustment" to the slot just so I can use a good key ring. I have the other style "7" ring from the e38. I'll see what the dealer says today.
