After some researching, I think I am down to these two choices: Falken in 235/40/17 or Potenza 050A Pole Position 225/45/17. If comparing with the same size, I think Potenza will be better but in this case, would the extra width (20cm diff) or the differences between these tires matter more?
These are what matters to me most:
High speed stability
Cornering
dry and wet traction
This is for mostly city and highway driving plus one or two track day/autox a year

If you have a '95 with 7.5 wides fr/rr, I'd go with the 225/45-17 RE0505A PP. Better tire, especially for the price. The RE050A PP has a wide tread width relative to section width.

Thanks for your input again SleepRM3. Actually I have a question, is it true that as long as the tire fits the rims, it is fine? I think u mentioned to me that 235/40/17 is optimal for our cars in the other thread asking for some other advice? Do u know any site that I can read up on these kind of stuff?

I run the 050 PP's for autocross and they are awesome! I would recommend them to anyone.
I switched last year from Kumho MX and they are about equal IMO

Generally you want the rim width to be 90% of the tire's section width. A 235/40-17 tire spec rim width is usually 8.5 wide. It's safest to stay in the middle of a tire's rim width range. For a 225/45-17 that's usually 7.5 to 8 inches in rim width.

RE050A are true to size I assume? And I guess section width is the tire's width?

Yes, but their tread widths are a larger proportion of their section width. Check Tire Rack's specs. I believe the spec rim width for 225/45-17 RE050A Pole Position is 7.5 wide; the section width is 8.9 wide, and the tread width is 8.5 wide. This is 96% of the section width, and almost as much tread width as a 245/40-17 on an 8.5-wide (8.7 tread width). The next best tread width to section ratio is the Advan Neova AD07, 235/40-17 on 8.5 wide, 9.1 inches tread vs 9.6 wide section width, 95%.
