as you have read youll know that im a newb although i have worked at car spa over the summer (but we use shitty liquid wax thats easy to use.... more like a polish). i recently picked up some Meg yellow wax #26 at autozone and was wondering how you all go about waxing your car? wash, dry, wax, remove residue?

and another thing, how is this carnuba wax in comparison to turtle wax's carnuba/hard shell and zaino?

I have used Meguiar's Yellow #26 pure carnuba paste wax in the past, and I like it. It's a bit old school, in that it can be hard to remove (as compared to the newer style liquid waxes out there) but it does leave a nice protective shell and shine that lasts a while.

And yes, wash, dry, wax (do 1 or 2 areas at a time, no more, or it will be a bitch to remove), then remove.

Apply it with a damp applicator in a circular motion, let it dry and haze up, remove using a big soft towel, also in a circular motion, and rotate the towel quite a bit when removing it, to make sure you're using a clean portion of the towel for removal, use several towels if you have to.

Good luck!

in addition to what SilverStreak said, i would suggest fully washing your car down with a strong soap to get rid of all the residue first.

when waxing, try to use a good quality carnuaba based wax and possibly and orbital waxer, they do a great job.

also check out Zaino bros wax, they make the best wax out there, but its a LONG process. its much better than any of the Mothers or Meguiars waxes if done properly. www.zainobros.com
