Why don't you hit the trunk release and see what happens?

because the doors are locked

How do you get to the trunk release button if you can't get into the car? That button is hard enough to hit if you were inside.
Sorry, I am trying to help, but a bit confused.

It depends if you have the trunk in the "secured" position...if you do, then you have it disconnected from the central locking system so NO...it won't open with either of the buttons on the interior of the car (the trunk release button down by the hood release lever nor the central lock/unlock button on the ctr console).

Everything that I would type in this post, I've already typed a few days ago in these past threads below...understandably some of the info doesn't apply but the answer to your question(s) are answered within the text written...good luck :)

EDIT: I see now that you are locked out of the cabin, too. On the 97, if you locked the car with the key (manually or with the keyless buttons on the key)...the car is double locked so the doors aren't going to open and if you did happen to get into the cabin without disabling the system, the alarm is going to go off...and just as I wrote above, if the trunk is not connected to the central locking system...its not going to open.

Your best bet is to contact your local BMW dealer and hopefully they have a record of you...you need to order an emergency master key which should only take a day or two...plus it sounds like you need to get a spare key anyways.

Best of luck getting thru this.
