Has anyone in the VA area dealt with the Auto Adavntage Used BMW Dealer? I'm looking at a car there and need some good advice and your opinions of the dealership. Would you buy a CPO from them? Trustworthy? etc.?

Thanks!

I've bought a car from them. All i can say is, good cars, decent service..i think they buy quality cars.

BUT that said, i think you can get a much better deal elsewhere, even from a dealer. their prices run high and used to be not negotiable (that was 4 years ago, hopefully they realize we're in a recession)

I would look elsewhere first unless they have a car with specs you can't find anywhere else. ie. i wanted a Fern Green M3 with tan interior..they were few and far between

I bought 95 325ic from them. I helped my sister buy 98 328ic from them as well. They got good cars at decent price. Service is above average used car dealers. One thing strange about their cars from my experience is that, the odometer field shows on the the top half portion of it after driving the car for a while. It happened to both of those cars that we bought.

With that in mind, I wouldn't go back to that place to get another BMW. I agree with JLee. You could find better deals from BMW dealers if you look around.

I believe someone said that the past month (January) has been the worst sales month for used cars in the past 10 years.... just to give you an idea of how crappy this economy is right now.

So, if a dealership isn't willing to significantly deal -- I'd walk. When I purchased my Lexus, I faxed over to each of the Lexus dealerships what I wanted, how many miles the car must be below, and what I wanted to pay. I told them, don't even call me if it doesn't meet the requirements contained herein. A month later, I got a call and although they will try to dick around with the price. I told them, I won't even come in to see it unless this is the price you are willing to sell the car for: period-- and then I hung up on the guy.

Be a hardass....don't negotiate price while you are there. Tell them you'll come in IF they will sell it at "X" -- they'll go, will you buy it, your response, if the car is as damn good as you say it is --Yes...9 times out of 10, they forget something, e.g., scratches, worn interior parts,....and when you are there, you can knock an additional $200-$500 off the price.

You might get more responses in the VA section...moving it.

oh yeah one other thing...what i don't like about what they do is when they buy cars they sometimes strip certain options like CD Changers and stuff out, and then when they sell it to you they sell it as an option

when i heard about that i was kinda turned off

I was looking at a car from there as well. I have to say that they probably sell very good cars in terms of condition and quality, however, they are HIGH on every one of their cars. You will not get a deal there, and from what I could tell... advertised price = price you will pay.

They have a 99 M Coupe w/17,850 miles on it for $28950 w/CPO. Bad deal? In comparison, Towson BMW has a 99 M Coupe w/44,800 miles on it for $31,999 w/CPO also. ???????:dunno

I thought $28,900 for 99M Coupe 17,xxx miles wasn't that bad. I don't see very many coupes so comparing prices for me is difficult. Any more advice/help out there guys??

Just talked to a sales person, said it's $2195 for 5yr bumper-to-bumper ex. warranty w/$0 deductable for the 99 M Coupe at Auto Advantage. Is this worth it for an M Coupe w/17,818 miles on it? The orginal CPO runs out on 04/03 BTW. I have an appointment Sunday to see the car. Any help would be great guys!

I have to check which warranty they offered. What warranty company should I avoid OR go with then?

O.K., I found out the warranty is through ULTIMATE warranty corp. and it's 7 years, or 125,000 miles, transferable, or can be pro-rated if I see the car. ULTIMATE is underwritten by HANCOCK if they should ever go out of business. It's ZERO deductable and covers the car's warranty if in a crash also. The only thing NOT covered is 18 wear-and-tear items, tires, battery, etc. HELP GUYS, what's your professional opinions?? :help

well auto advantage is a reputable dealer and i think they would contract with a reputable extended warranty company. i don't think that they would use any ol company cause any bad experiences would reflect on them

all in all its not a bad deal. but you got me thinkin and just my $0.02, don't know if you can afford it but for $5K-$6K more you can get *probably* get a 01 M Roadster or M Coupe. and it would cost you that much alone to bolt on a supercharger to a 99 M Roadster to gain almost the same HP

the *luxury* car market is in the crapper...i mean hell you can get a 99 M3 for $25K now and a 95 M3 for around $15-18K. thats whats keepin me from sellin mine and getting a used newer model M3
