Alright, I think I need new Ignition Coils and/or boots for my 93 325i...could someone please tell me the difference between them? There is a set on bavauto.com for like $275 that are supposively "high performance", and I have found others on ebay. One ebay set is OES /OEM for $150 here : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-BMW-OES-6-pk-IGNITION-COIL-Coils-E32-E36-E30-E34-M3_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33689QQihZ002QQitemZ 120110448434QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
The bavauto coils say they increase torque and horsepower..but how? Are they not just supplying a spark to ignite the air/fuel mixture? How can their spark increase anything? They same mixture is exploding, moving the pistons the same way..Is it really worth $125 bucks more? I don't know, anyone with experience with these please let me know before I go blowing some of my hard-earned cash on these things. I probably only need 1, maybe 2 replaced in my car, but I think I will just get 6 new ones for the heck of it..

Wow I have never seen those ebay coils, could be a great deal.
BavAuto I'm sure would claim a more efficient, powerful, and crisper spark. I have these and they are pretty solid. I think you're right to replace all the coilpacks, not just a few. G/L

It won't really give you enough of a difference that you will feel it. most people say they just have a smoother idle.
I myself just ended up buying a whole set of coils and boots used.

Is there anyone here that has have the Bavauto's high performance coils for a while already and support Bavauto statements?

Compared to up to date oem coils, "high performance" coils won't do squat. A good spark, is a good spark be it from new oem coils or "high performance" coils.

If you go used and replace only ones needed, make sure you get the same brand name (Bosch, Beru, Bremi, Zundspule) and the same part number. They do have to match per our research and experience where I work. We are required to ask which ones you need when you call us for used ones.

I replaced all mine with the the used-new ones. I didn't feel like testing mine out to see which ones worked.
Ps: Car is fine now.

It looks like I will be buying those ebay OEM coils for $150..I just lost another ebay auction for a set of used ones, ending bid was around $50..that seemed a little high for used ones, who really knows how much life is left in them anyways..I figure I'll spend the extra $100 bucks and be assured all the coils and boots are new.
I'll post when I get them, and give a little review, to let people know if they are worth it, it is a pretty good deal if they are..
