***as low as $225 shipped*** for a short time only.
The days of the old humming, magnetic core & coil-type ballasts have come to an end.
The digital (electronic) ballast is the latest in ballast innovation. Digital ballasts are more efficient, quieter, cooler, and softer/easier on the bulb all the while allowing for a much smaller and neater package. Digital ballasts do not have any of the usual transformers or capacitors, instead these ballasts have electronic circuitry doing the same job, only much more efficiently using significantly less current.
they have the capability of self diagnostic and reset, including specific protection circuits to detect various lamp- and ballast-fault conditions allowing to safely shutdown or reset the ballast.

when the ballast fires the bulb it sends full power to the cold bulb, Over time, this shortens the bulb life and reduces the output and life span of the bulb, Digital ballasts start by sending a low amount of power to the bulb and steadily increases the power over the next few seconds until the bulb has reached full brightness, This is also known as soft starting, which minimizes the damage to the bulb and increases its life.

After one year of use the usable light coming from bulbs that are run on digital ballasts has decreased significantly less where as the same bulb being used in the coil type ballast would have lost over 10% more usable light over the same period of time.

so what does it all mean to you?? the very best hid kit just got that much better in a much smaller and much neater package that's easy to install.

While I'm sure these are GREAT ballasts and they come from a reputable company, the stuff you are saying is misleading. You are comparing the electronic ballast to the "old" style magnetic ballast, which afaik has never been used in a car.

So I challenge you to show me one single magnetic (old-style) automotive HID ballast that has been sold anywhere at any time.

Like I said, these look like great high-quality ballasts. There is no reason to post BS to sell them.

I get very confused everytime I patrol the HID threads. I'm hesitant due to the conflicting answers given or the answers that are skipped all together. Feels shady not light and bright as it should. The Prolumens were lifetime, maybe with the 1 or 2 year warranty the price has dropped even further to stimulate sales for risk takers? Not a bad option but it would be nice to know eh?

some people wanted a lower price kit while still getting the prolumen reliability, the regular priced prolumen still has the life time warranty, now there 2 lower priced options.

its the same kit with a different warranty coverage, warranties aren't free and have to be accounted for future replacement costs, the shorter the coverage period the lower the price, it has nothing to do with risk takers as much as some want a great kit at an affordable price, if you don't like that idea the regular price kit with the lifetime warranty is still there.

there are no conflicting answers here, been the same since day one, simple with a proven track record for 2+ years now, its a great kit at a better price only now with lower cost options, if you can buy a proven better or even equal kit at the same price i suggest you get one, we don't make empty promises and fabricate facts, the other prolumen thread and a few before it have gone on for a long time, there are many members here who own one that will testify to its quality and longevity.

dont confuse me with other fly by nights who have come and gone never to be heard from again, im here to stay. the products, quality and service speak for themselves.

What I meant by "risk takers" is people who wouldn't mind risking a shorter warranty period for a better price and hoping that they win the gamble and their product never fails (within reason). I frequently shop that way if I know a product is good. My guess was correct and it was meant as no insult at all.

My knowledge of kits for HID headlamps and options available are what has frustrated me during my education on my planned purchase. Not a lot of simple answers are to be found. I'm stressed about buying the wrong ( for me ) product and regretting it later possibly. There is a lot to learn IMO, it was much simpler buying a suspension as an example. With people modding lenses with tsx parts or whatnot it's a lot to absorb. Not your fault at all habbie, I just like to make informed purchases. Plus I'm not sure if I want angel eyes or not, I haven't seen too many projector lens fronts without them to know what it looks like. Everyone seems to run AE's with HID's.

have always offered an entry level kit on this forum and much to my surprise with great result.

prolumen has always been at the pinnacle of hid kits in terms of quality, longevity and most of all reliability, a simple search on this forum and a quick look at this thread should more then confirm that, if the product was bad you'd have to look no further then this thread (we do have some vocal members you know..:D ), as such i decided that instead of buying 2 or 3 different brands why not offer prolumen at a reduced and competitive cost comparable to other brands only with a shorter warranty period giving you the best of both worlds if you will.

if you have ANY questions feel free to ask either here or via pm, an informed customer is the best customer, hid kits are a fairly simple proposition once you have the basics down.

i have seen my fair share of vendors come and go in the last 2 years our products have been the one constant on this forum, i am proud of the quality, reliability and the good reputation our product earned.

i feel the tsx projector mode is way over rated (as are the projectors themselves), while it is certainly nice i do not believe its worth the added $$ and most of all the hassle, both depo and zkw put out more the enough light when coupled with an hid kit.

as far as the angel eyes go they are a very popular option, they look great and i love mine (im just a little biased..:stickoutt ) however if i had to choose between the AE's or hid it would be no choice at all.

would these lights set off the low beam error in an E34? I was told my current hid kit wouldn't, but it does, so if you could point me to someone that has them installed on an e34 w/ no problems, that'd be great. Also, how long will this thing be going on, and what are the regular prices? I want to buy a pair or two, but have to wait a few months.

Thanks!

Thanks!there is no way to promise you it would or wouldn't, i can promise you that a resistor pack will straighten the error up with the prolumen kit should it throw off the code, anybody who promises no error without doing the install sight unseen is full of it.
this is the regular group buy price for now, i dont see a reason to end it at this point and it just may still be the same in a few months.

Thanks got the bulbs and installed the kit, it looks great. The only problem I had was with getting the bulb in. I had to shave off a little bit of metal to get the bulb to fit in the back of the headlights. Is that normal?

This kit is legit (so far). Picked up a set of Prolumen 6k with the lifetime warranty for my low beams last June and they're still running nice and strong. I have them on during the day sometimes too.

If you're on the fence, go ahead and pick up a set. Cant beat the lifetime warranty at that price.

over the past few weeks i have received numerous emails and pm's asking questions about competitors hid kit and how they stack up to the new prolumen slims, they don't, prolumen is the ONLY fully digital kit sold here on BFC, all other kits employ last generation older technology, period.
they may claim there's are digital but one look at the full size (older style) ballast show's otherwise, claims of higher output or lumens without lab testing or proof is also rampant these days, rest assured that you will not get an OE like quality kit for a little over $100, as the old saying goes; you get what you pay for.

there is no plug n play hid kit for the e36 fogs, it does not exist, it is an amazing and outlandish claim especially coming from someone who doesn't even know the correct bulb fitment for many BMW models. you will have to splice a 9006 adapter to make an hid kit work in your fogs.

LBF error: there's no kit on the market today that can guarantee and completely eliminate the fault, to make that type of claim sight unseen is remarkable considering each cars check control module seems to react differently, we are currently working/testing THE ONLY plug n play solution to the cure the LBF fault, don't be fooled by empty promises.

buy a quality kit, in the long run it will ALWAYS be cheaper, i have seen many fly by night come and go in my 3+ years here, buy a solid and innovative product from a known and trusted source, you wont be disappointed, along with prolumen we have continuously improved and made a great product even better, you and your car deserve nothing less.

the vrod as you know is packed a little tight and space is at a premium, i placed mine right behind the headlight.
the high beams will remain fully functional after converting your low beam to hid, the vrod uses 2 bulbs, h11 for your low beams and 9005 for the highs.
you can order a regular kit just specify h11 in the comment to seller.
its a great upgrade for the vrod, as you know the stockers suck royaly, now i can really see at night.

VERY COOL oh and what color temp is that shown in the bike?

Actualy I dont have the bike yet.... havent taken posesion of it but a check has been written, owner didnt get the kickstand all the way down after rolling outside to take pics of it, so his insurance is fixing it right now, should have by the end of the week.

So the electronics fit in the headlight its self or did you mount it behind the light housing?

I didnt realize that it was 2 bulb system either. that makes it easier.

congrats:) its a great bike, reliable as can be and pretty quick while a bit of a pig.

i just mounted the ballast behind the headlight.

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h70/umnitzaeast/DSCF3186.jpg

you cant see it to good but its right between the forks secured by that maze of wire looms, it hasent moved in over a year.
another benefit is that my kit is a direct plug n play for the h11 as well, you will be able to revert to stock any time you feel like it in a snap, no cutting or splicing of any kind.

the pics show an 8k but i have since gone with a 6k set up, the 8k was pretty but the output was shitty, the 6k is perfect, i'll snap a few pics later tonight if it doesn't rain here.

under the headlight in the inner bumper beam with double sided tape.
the LBF is hit and miss some cars throw it some dont, the prolumen are very good and we are working on a harness to cure the ones who do.
this GB is the same but has different warranty options.
