A couple of months ago I saw an M3 which was coated in an almost fully reflective paint. It was like a mirror drove by and it looked absolutely stunning. I have never seen anything like it so I assume it must have been a custom job. Anybody know what kind of coating this is, or better has pictures of a car like this?

Why are you changing the color? It will cost $$$alot$$$ to do it right. With a color change, almost everything needs to come off...door, glass, etc. If a shop tells you otherwise, then you are going to get a crap job.

I think you will be looking at 5-10k. Is this on your dime or is your dad picking up the tab?

For that kind of money, you could make a charcole grey BMW w/looks to kill (think bodykit, etc) or a mean machine (think SC or cams, etc). Changing the color seems like a HUGE waste to me.

Leave it alone and mod elsewhere.

Holy Shit! I just searched on your name...

Your talking about a 94 318is!?!?!

Look, I know its easy to get caught up in this stuff. But from what I've seen in your posts, you haven't done anything to your car yet. Don't start w/a paint job. It will cost more than your ride is worth.

By dirty130 in other threads...

Allright well my father just bought me a 1994 bimmer 318is and I was kinda sceptical about it at first but now its kinda growing on me. But I want to make it so im not embaresed to roll up in it.

I have pretty much whatever I can earn and my dad will remburse me so I just need the list and hell pay for ovefr hald for everything if I get him a list of parts that will pass smog thats all he cares abotu cause if the headers dont smog he wont help me out so I really have like a under 5 K bugdget I guess help me out and well see what we can do

Your Dad is going to reimburse you for mods after buying you a car?!! And your talking about being embarrassed about rolling up in an un-modded Bimmer?!?!?! WTF

You, my young friend, are spoiled. And I have no respect for that.

Work a job, make some money, and mod as you go. There are many small things which you should be doing first before painting the car and adding a SC.

This thread probably belongs in general or OT.

For that many beans you can do a hell of a lot better. Think about it..... rims, body kit, badass sound system, go-fast toys, ect.
I'm not going to give you shit for being spoiled. Theres not too many people who would turn down a chance for a free mod'ed bimmer.

Oh, and just because a person has a shitty car doesn't make them a chump. Everyone on this board is lucky to have a nice car.

Just paint your skirts and bumpers and go to a couple BMWCCA Driving Schools. Also, get some lightweight 17" rims (on a 318, anything bigger will slow you down, and are just for looks). SSR Competitions from the Tire Rack are the go-fast choice of many - plus they would look killer with a charcoal 3. Later you can get a D/A Supercharger, after you master all the 318 can give (that's a lot more than 95% of the drivers on the road today)!

Asking what color to paint your car is like asking what the best color for your house is. It's a personal decision - that's why BMW makes more than one color!

Why are you trying to impress other people? Do what you want to do man. Why don't you do some performance mods man?

Your dad buys you a car and then offers to give you more money for the car. Yet, you will still disobey your father...
