Ok so i found a good price on a parts car. A 1994 530i manual. Would this motor give me problems while swapping it in? Your ideas please..My heart is set on a 2.8 or M3 3.0...

You know that is a V8 right? And those V8s had problems- the block should have been replaced.

My personal opinion (which I know isn't worth much:) ) The E34 is to heavy for either the 2.8 or 3.0 M3 engine. Those are high winding engines and don't have a lot of low end torque. The E34 M5 had a 3.6L DOHC engine (S38B36) and that is a good balance of low end torque and High RPM HP.

Still could use a LOT more torque thou!!!

The manual tranny from the 530 will bolt right up to either engine or vice versa, but it shouldn't give you any "unexpected" problems

The manual trans from a E34 530 will only bolt to a V-8, either the M60 or M62, it will not bolt to any in line BMW 6 cylinder.
