Ok, I'm looking to sell my M3 in a couple of months and have been looking for what to replace it with. The main reason for selling is because I live in upstate NY and next year will be making trip to Canada on a pretty regular basis. So, I need a car that is going to be able to handle snow (with snow tires) pretty well. Currently I'm looking for a used S4, but I figured it didn't hurt to look in family first.
How well does the Mini S handle in the snow?
PS: Haven't test driven a Mini S yet, fun factor compared to M3?

I don't have anything to compare it to... as my car is the only one I've driven in the snow, but I haven't had any trouble at all really... and I don't even have snow tires. I haven't ever been stuck anywhere, and the rear end always stays back since its fwd.
I've got no idea on the fun factor because I've never driven an S or a m3. Good luck with your car search though :D

Snickers in the general direction of those that live in Hawaii.
Thanks for the info Kyle. Which dealer in jersey did you get your Mini from? I'm going to start the search with Morris Mini because they are pretty close to where I live. Hopefully the wait list isn't too long.

I got mine from Princeton MINI since I live in Princeton. I know they've got quite a few on the lot right now if you wanted to check one out. I'm not sure how Morris's supply is at the moment.

I live in Chicago and have an "S" with the 17" highperf run flats.
It's great in the "wet," but don't bother to take it in the snow without snow tires. Even with traction control and front wheel drive, it's lacking serious grip on fluffy stuff.
"Snows" on all four should make it a beast :buttrock
Good luck!

I just had a blast!!
We're getting dumped upon here in southern Maryland. I took my car out on the deserted roads and had some drifting fun.
Inexperienced drivers may have trouble driving this car in the snow because of traction issues. It's very easy to get the rear end to swing around as well. Throttle steering is a neccesity at times.
It rocks!!!
