Very glad to hear they won't export...I wouldn't want a BMW made in India at all.

Not knocking India...but that country is just not a place where I see high quality control happening in any industry. I'm in software and the code I deal with out of India is *HORRIBLE*...and that is from some of the best contract software operations in India.

If they were exporting, I could see people boycotting BMW because they would see it as exploiting laborers...etc.

Not specifically BMW, but all the german auto manufacturers are shipping their production operations to eastern european countries because of the cheaper labor.

+1 on that.

I lost my last job, and 99% sure it was going to india. The thing is, I have been a programmer since the mid 80's, now I am a DBA, I still cannot figure out how they planned on a remote DBA taking care of Oracle :nuts

For starters, when someone needed some support, they needed it now, and unless I am mistaken there is a small time difference, what kind of tech support are you going to get from a clueless person at 1am in the morning??

Many software businesses are finally realizing the *actual* cost of sending work to India, Russia, Brazil, etc....

Its not nearly as profitable as they originally thought.

I need to make it very clear that the X3 ISN'T manufactured in SC. The new X6 is supposed to be, however.
