Why not just pull and respray yours? You'd be removing it anyway, may as well just pull it, squirt it with black, then reinstall it. Save yourself a bundle.

Yeah... that's what I did. I just used regular black spraypaint and it came out great.

If you buy a used one from someone, it will probably be faded anyways.

I tried RIT dye first, it didnt do shit. VHT might work. The paint I used was lacquer, so it soaked into the fabric and it looks fine. The surface is a little crispy...haha. At least it's not purple. You might as well give it a try if you're going to throw away your old one anyways.

I would use an upholstery dye, like the VHT stuff, not regular paint. Paint works fine, but it will be more crispy as mentioned, and it sometimes rubs off when you touch it, even after quite a long time. It sort of "flakes" off when touched, not that you'd be touching the rear deck much.

If it were mine, I'd definitely spray it with dye, but if I couldn't find any I'd paint it. Nobody will be back there touching it on mine. In fact, I may be doing mine in the near future, because I want mine to be black as well.
