There is a huge bolt located behind my gas pedal, it is stopping me from pushing down my pedal all the way. Can I remove this bolt so I can push the pedal all the way? Why is this there, who would want there car to be limited?

Its so that you dont snap off the cable. You might be able to turn it a few mm deeper, but i wouldnt go past that.

Are you sure it isn't a switch? Mine is a switch that causes my tranny to downshift. Also, if your gas pedal is pressed too far down, it will actually push the valves back closed and will have the same effect as not pressing it down all the way.

My vote is leave it be.

some auto cars have a button back there that gives the car a "boost" of energy but its just a plain old bolt on my 5 speed

That boost is just a downshift. Lolz.

On automatic cars it enables the "kickdown" mode which pumps it to the lowest gear for optimal overtaking.

However, this is not what the bolt behind the pedal does. It's there to stop hyper extension of the cable as digitaldragon03 stated. If you took it off, if it doesn't snap the cable, you're making the butterfly in the throttle body make another rotation, so rather than being wide open, you're going beyond that point that it actually "closes" again.

So in short, leave the damn thing alone.

Thats just the NOS button if you feel the urge to tokyo drift. and it might downshift too. one of the many benefits of the 4 speed slushbox

some of you may joke abouth the stopper but, when i cleaned my icv i had my brother get in and push the petal to the stopper and i sh!t you not the TB didnt open all the way, not even close. It was about a 1/2" from being flat.

Maybe the cable streched or the bolt backed out. i dont know. Something for you guys and gals to think about ;)

Hmm I bet it did stretch out. Next time I pull that stuff off (seems to be a monthly thing for me) I will have to check mine out.

Have somebody push the pedal down, or put something heavy on it, and check the butterfly. If it is not all of the way open then adjust the cable to correct it. Leave the pedal stop alone, as it protects the cable from being over-extended.

Hmm I will have to do that. Last thing I need is to have spent $$$$ on mods only to find I'm not going WOT when I think I am.

Or worse, removing the stopper, thinking you're cool, only to find out that now you're pushing the butterfly past 90*, and effectively closing it again. ;)

Or, if you're really lucky, like I was with my mk II Jetta, the cable will pop out of the pedal during rush hour traffic because the idiot previous owner thought it was cool to be able to push the pedal down further. I had to push the car 400 feet on a busy street to a place where I wasn't afraid my legs would get flattened while I fixed the problem. A donor E28 later supplied a replacement stop bolt.

Moral? Leave your stop bolt the hell alone.

I adjusted mine when I installed my SAMCO ASC Delete Boot (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=626641) and WOW!!!! It made a world of difference. :D :D :D

Yor can adjust the bolt safely as long as you are not a dumb ass and thread it farther than you need to. thread it in until the butterfly is sompletly flat and leave it. Dont go and thread in in alother 3".

by messing with this would it have caused my car to bog way down and mess up the MAF sensor?
