You should check craigslist, I've seen quite a few in Portland and Seattle lately. There is also a specialty place in Seattle called m-car Seattle. Good hunting!

Been all over the PNW craigslist pages about 4 times a day.......... Having a hard time finding anything that isn't salvaged, rebuilt, or rediculously priced. The car that I totally was ready to buy, I was about 3 hours too late, and I emailed the guy RIGHT when I saw it......

Yeah I've noticed some are really priced too high. You might even try ebay or get something from Cali, it's about 5-600 bucks to get it shipped up.

I am in the Seattle area too and I have been looking for e36 m3s everyday now too. I agree with everything you have been saying, everything is salvaged or way overpriced. I am considering looking down in Cali, flying down and driving up.

between 12-15k (depending on the car).....The right car is out there for that price range, its just a matter of finding the right person, that is a motivated seller, and its possible. I'm sorta picky, but im confident that the car is out there, and I will find it with good determination, and no rash buying decisions.

I shared your pain for 4 months until I pulled the trigger last month on a Chicago area car and shipped it here to Seattle...

Used cars in Seattle are WAY overpriced...I don't think these sellers are in any rush to sell their cars; they just seem to want to get a certain price and are willing to wait. For example, there is a Hellrot Red '97 M3/4 Auto in Tacoma that has been for sale since October or November of last year that was asking $17K that is still for sale now for $16K on craigslist. That's practically 5 months and he's only budged $1,000 and it STILL hasn't sold. There is also a '97 Alpine Auto 60K miles at mcars-seattle that was asking $21K that has now dropped down to $19K....so while it seems Seattle sellers are ASKING more for their M3's, I don't see proof that they are SELLING for more...

Continue to use craigslist but add on autotrader and cars.com if you haven't already, and don't hesitate to look out of state if you're looking for that special car, especially California - shipping not that high and you can make a nice trip out of it. I didn't because I didn't want to make a snow trip to Chicago, but a trip to California can ALWAYS be justified (and living in Seattle you KNOW what I mean with the weather we have here!).

Other than wanting an Auto instead of a Manual, we share the same search parameters...GOOD LUCK! :D

Just curious what price range realistically were you looking at for M3's in under 100k mile conditions.

I waited 8-10 months before I found the right M3 for me and I found one in oregon at 68k miles for about 15.5, which was more than I wanted to pay, but the car was perfectly maintained and clean.

Yeah I would say a fair price for 100k mile M3's or less should go from anywhere to 13k to 16k near stock or light mods.

I saw that guys ad though for the dakar 4door with 164k miles and he wants 16k. Thats crazy.

Just keep looking eventually you will find your perfect M3. Don't rush into it because I almost did that and if I had I would not have as nice of car as I do now.

I originally wanted black, but the yellow has grown on me and now I would have no other color on my M3 because its rare and a nice slick color.

Just my 2 cents.

I am one of the 'overpriced cars' in Seattle and it would be my opinion it's you guys with the value of car problems... My Dinan blown '98 M3 just sold for 22 and I had over 30 into it. If you're looking for a truly nice one, yes you'll have to be patient, but you're not gonna find nice in the 12 to 15 range either. So be patient, research your car well, especially if it's out of the area, and good luck to ya!

No, not really, I've seen people asking 22k for bone stock M3s. Yours was well worth that price considering all the mods. Others, the ones that we're bitching about, not so much.

man a lot of people from seattle are having problems finding a good bmw and you can add me to that list aswell. I actually am looking in cali and especially now since I can find cars there easy, and the fact that since we're bimmerforums members we get a discount through intercity lines automotive transportation.
