*** SOLD ***

My 2006 Alpine CDA-9856 head unit is for sale if anyone is interested. I planned on putting it on ebay, but thought I'd give bf.c a chance at it first, especially since it is wired for an E36.

Unit was purchased new from Crutchfield on 2/21/06. Great stereo, especially if you have an iPod - the full speed interface works great and the interface cable is only $20 on ebay. Unit is in like new condition. Face plate is in great shape - no scratches. I rarely removed it. I have after market amps pushing my speakers and used the function that disables the head unit's internal amplifier, so the internal amp has never been used. Plays MP3 discs. Has 3 sets of pre-amp outs. The unit is still wired to the BMW connector (with exception of the speaker wires that I never connected). Also includes the antenna adapter. So, everything you need for a quick install.

My wife is out of town with the digital camera, but I'll post pics ASAP. If anyone is interested, shoot me a PM and I can email pics as soon as I have them.

Based on ebay prices, I'm asking $140 + actual shipping.

Man, I'd be all over this if the HU lit up orange instead of blue/green. :(

Yep...that's the one draw back for us BMW owners. I hate that Alpine took away the adjustable illumination. I just replaced this deck with a 9883, which is now red/blue...so a step in the right direction...but not a 100% match.

Sorry to threadjack, do you have any pix of the new HU at nite? Can you change all the buttons/lights to red or is the display still green?

Thanks

Sorry, didn't snap any while it was still installed. You can't adjust the illumination on the 9856. Alpine removed that option in 06. Large buttons are blue and all others are backlit with green.

Please provide me with your contact info. I have this exact same HU and am familiar with it, and have a friend with an E36 M3 looking to upgrade to an I-pod compatable deck. He is not internet savvy, but would appreciate the antenna adapter, and harness that this unit comes with. Please send me a PM with your number, and I will forward it to him. Thanks,
A
